House Of Self Indulgence Blog

i found a clip on youtube of the beginning of the movie hehehehe, pretty wacky and cheesy...doesn't look bad!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XRe14RRvwU

from imdb.com:
Sam, Trish, Beth, and Annie are four Valley Girls bored with shopping and frat parties. They come across kind Mr. Stanton, who is running a home for orphaned boys. Mr. Stanton and his charges are in danger of being evicted from their home if they don't come up with the rent money that is due, and one of the boys has taken to selling drugs for a couple of sleazy dealers. When Trish's prized "TUBUL R" Mercedes convertible is lost in a bet in which their Beverly Hills rivals have cheated, mayhem ensues as the Vals, with the help of their frat boy boyfriends, save Mr. Stanton and his boys from being evicted, give the drug dealers their just desserts, and exact revenge on the Beverly Hills brats in a rematch

valley - have you seen this one?

Ronnie, I actually had a dvd-r of this movie. I tried watching it recently and I couldn't get through it. I think I was so disgusted, I tossed the disc! On the surface it looks cool but in all honestly, it like really sucks for shure! Like totally! [Frown]

Ronnie.. "The Vals" came out before "Valley Girl", but I actually saw VG several years prior to it. I picked up "The Vals" on VHS from one of Cindy's bargain bin displays.

I actually enjoyed it and think it is worth checking out. I think it is hilarious to see Chuck Conners as the dad/manager, John Carradine, and Sonny Bono as a tripped out musician. Which brings me full circle.. does Steve Richman remind you of Sonny Bono?

Not that I was impressed by it (I'm so sure), but notice how much more of the Val speak is used in this movie. Though Martha Coolidge claims that some of the stuff we think is Val speak really isn't and is why she didn't put more of it in the "Valley Girl".

I have no clue where my VHS tape is now, so thanks for posting that clip! The outfits they had on during the party scene were awesome!

Forgot to mention .. there is a great mall scene in "The Vals" and the soundtrack has some entertaining tunes though they were probably recorded in the director's basement.

i did notice sonny bono's name in the credits.

the vhs tape is on amazon for less than 4 dollars. i wonder if i would even watch it more than once? lol

how interesting....the vals and valley girl were made one year apart...and i don't recall any of us ever talking about vals.

i heard a couple of those tunes in the clip, and i think they sound odd...you gotta have great music..martha coolidge did NOT drop the ball on that one, thank goodness.

Heard of this but never saw it. I'm going to watch it on Youtube right now!

Hold up! Was that *nudity* in the opening scenes?! Is that allowed on Youtube?

The music sounds really cheesy. Not in a good way.

Ronnie .. I'm generally not a fan of watching movies on youtube, but this movie qualifies as one to save the $4 on. It is watchable not comparable, but repeat viewings is probably not going to happen. So I think Logan has the best plan.
