The audience is hardly seen until the end of the movie. The only shot comes between "Life During Wartime" and "Making Flippy Floppy".

This changes in the IMAX version, as shots are seen from the upper deck of the stage (where the drums & keyboards are), and we are also given perspectives from the front rows.

David Byrne collaborated with Jonathan Demme on Demme's "Something Wild", as well as the score of "Married To The Mob".

The band split in the early 90s, but reunited in 2002 for another excellent performance at their induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

The Talking Heads's song "This Must Be The Place" was also used in the 2004 IMAX masterpiece "Space Station". In it, Tom Cruise (who unfortunately is never seen) narrarates several historic flights from both the United States and Russian Republic which contributed to the International Space Station's construction, and eventual habitation. The classic Heads tune plays during the second crew's arrival and repair sequence. As of January 2007, the film is playing at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, but a 2-D version is currently available on DVD.

During the actual concert, the band took a short break here and there and David Byrne would tell the crowd "We are taking a short break". Since there is no actual break in the film, Demme overdubbed Byrne asking "Does anybody have any questions?"

The film's title STOP MAKING SENSE is a repeated phrase in the third-act number "Girlfriend Is Better". A track from the "Speaking In Tongues" album (their latest at the time), part of the final chorus's lyrics go:

'As we get older and stop making sense
You won't find her waiting long
Stop making sense, stop making sense, stop making sense, making sense..."

Since 2011, a Talking Heads tribute band has been playing clubs, festivals, and cruises in the Northeastern U.S. and are quite popular in New York, where the original band first came together. A play on the name of the film, their name is "Start Making Sense", LOL!

See them if you get a chance.

Director Jonathan Demme stayed active nearly up until his untimely passing in 2017, and made several more 'Rockumentaries' in the early 21st Century with Neil Young and Justin Timberlake.

In 1996, he served as producer on Tom Hanks's directorial debut, the 60's rock & roll comedy "That Thing You Do!"

And his swan song as a director was with Meryl Streep as an aged small-time rock star in 2015's "Ricki & The Flash".

Bogus Trivia

There's often fake stuff floating round, y'know? -Like the 'ghost boy' that can allegedly be seen in "Three Men And A Baby".
