Filming began on November 14, 1988 and was completed on January 15, 1989. The film was shot in chronological order, because director Peter Weir wanted the development of the relationships between the boys and their growing respect for Mr. Keating to be captured better.Next Section: Deleted Scenes

There is a scene toward the beginning of the film where Nolan is assigning extracurriculars to the boys. Everyone who would later be in the Dead Poets was there.Todd stammers when he is put in soccer trying to claim: "I'd prefer rowing". Nolan replies saying that he'll "like soccer here". We get to see the other boys' reaction to Todd, I'm not quite sure why it was cut but it was.
