These scenes were actually shot at Weirton Steel Mill, located in Weirton, West Virginia. Google Map
The pool scenes were shot at Millsop Community Center. It is still there today.
Darryl Hannah's house is the "clubhouse" at Williams Country Club on Marland Heights.
The bowling alley is called "holiday Lanes" and it is still running today.
The football game being played is Weir High versus Weirton Madonna. [Thanks to Dave Greathouse]
The football stadium was Weir High's Jimmy Carrey Stadium, downtown Weirton.
Some of the interior high school scenes were filmed at Mingo High School, in Mingo Junction, Ohio. My aunt was a teacher there at the time, and her classroom was in a couple of the scenes. [Thanks to Marge Monaco]
the closing scene, where they are riding down the hill was filmed outside of New Cumberland, WV, my hometown. [Thanks to John Ryan]
Weir Avenue - Site of the "lookout" and the Mill Gate where he picks up his dad when he is drunk at work. Holiday Lanes has been completely remodeled about 10 years ago and looks a little different than the movie. The food counter, entrance, lanes and checkout counter are all in the same place.The house Quinn and his father live in is at the top of the hill downtown near the stadium. [Thanks to Ted Cromwell]
Rourke's father was taken to UPMC hospital in Pittsburgh. His funeral was then held at Greene-Janowski Funeral Home in downtown Weirton. It is still in business under the name of Greene-Wolcott Funeral Services.
His father worked at the #5 strip mill in Building 54 at Weirton Steel, now called Arcelor-Mittal Weirton. [Thanks to Drew Andress]
A large portion of Reckless was shot in Steubenville, Ohio located just across the Ohio River from Weirton, West Virginia.
The location of the house where Johnny and his dad lived is actually at 1099 2nd St just right up the hill from the Mill gate (on Main St.) where Johnny picked up his dad from work when he was drunk. If you go to the bottom of the hill on 2nd st, you'll run right into the gate.
The house Johnny and his Dad live in is across the street from where Meryl Streep and Christopher Walken's trailer sat in The Deer Hunter. 2nd ave at Ave A [Thanks to Stephanie]
