Seems fitting enough to bring this up with the Civil War's sesquicentennial soon upon us. I visited Gettysburg often when younger, so it was natural I'd take a look at this one when TNT ran it often during the decade. While quite long, it manages to (mostly) hold your interest during the slower spots between battle scenes. A pretty good cast from Tom Berenger to Jeff Daniels to Martin Sheen (a terrific Robert E. Lee) to Sam Elliott to 80s favorite C. Thomas Howell bring the time and place vividly to life, and the soundtrack is greatly underrated.

Chris, I bought this dvd a while ago, and I have yet to watch it. It's gonna have to be on a rainy or snowy weekend. My friend went to see it in the theater. I remember asking her how she sat for so long. She said they had a 15- 20 minute intermission.

There was some bad facial hair in it, but having said that... pretty darn good effort. I liked it a lot.

"General Lee... I have no division!"
