This was a B - Dance movie, I think the name was Shine, or something like that...
This school was getting closed down and the students were putting on a play that mirrored that situation with the sinking of Atlantis. The "bad boy" was trying to be good and really liked the straight -laced student-body president girl. He gets beat up by his brother...why can't I remember the name of this thing
It was 80s or 90s. Has pretty good music and dance sequences.

Sing was the name...just remember that Lorraine Bracco was in it.
