Was anyone else here a fan of it? What can I say, I love this show with a passion. If only CBS had known at the time how large the worldwide audience was, maybe they wouldn't have cancelled it twice. No matter; good shows always come to the surface in the end, and the fact it could outlast all the cancellations and survive 4 years in the end is all the proof one needs. Personally I prefer the Vecchio years to the Kowalski years--to me Vecchio made a better foil to Fraser with his unrelenting sarcasm and pessimism to Fraser's eternal optimism--but really quality didn't suffer when the change was made. Fraser ranks behind Monk and Reverend Jim as my 3rd favorite TV character; some may say an overly polite and unstoppable (especially whenever he's wearing what fans call "the magic Stetson") Mountie's too cartoonish, but there's no denying our hero cares deeply, and you can never have too many caring people on TV. The writing was always top notch, with an absolutely perfect blend of crime drama and humor ("We're attempting to track the criminals as if they were fur-bearing animals; what could be bad about that?"), and the supporting characters were just as interesting as the main ones (Diefenbaker the deaf wolf included). Rumors continue to circulate about a possible reunion movie as long as Paul Gross would be up to it. I for one hope it comes to pass.

Due South chronicled Constable Benton Fraser, R.C.M.P., who came south to the urban wilderness of Chicago with his pet deaf wolf (and later the ghost of his dead father). Perhaps the best source for beginners would be William and Elyse's Due South Page; they're easily the most comprehensive web site out there.

I remember this show, but I never got into it. It was probably on during another show I liked... I hate when the networks do this! Tonight I have to DVR Chuck so I can watch Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. What a pain!

I loved this show! I have season one on dvd. And I still need to get the other seasons. I was so bummed when CBS cancelled it. I loved Dief. Vecchio and Kowalski were equal to be. Paul Gross/Fraser had good chemistry with both guys.

I also loved the chemistry he had with Gordon Pinsent, who does perhaps the best dead guy on TV, hung over with remorse that he never got to know his son as well as he could have in life (but having still genuinely loved him despite it, in contrast to the standard portrayal) and eager to make up for it in death, sometimes a little too much ("Wouldn't miss it (R.C.M.P. Musical Ride) for the world; it stirs the blood." "You don't have any blood, Dad, you're dead." "Well, I've got the memory of blood."). And it was always great when Leslie Nielsen (son of an actual Mountie) popped in for guest appearances; the format gave him good range for both his serious and ridiculous sides ("Found the brake." "How can you tell?" "It's written right on it: BRAKE." "Could be a ruse." "To what end?" "Something criminal." "Are you insinuating that an entire design team has purposely mislabeled the key components of a train?" "It's possible." "I'm talking to a madman here...")

Excellent show pity it was cancelled it,s shown now and then on TV here,very good storyline and characters are well developed.Thanks for reminding of this show must buy it on DVD now and it also reminds me of another favourite of mine Northern Exposure. Happy viewing.

I never watched it, but my hubby (before he was my hubby) used to watch it all the time. Northern Exposure is still one of my favorite shows. I need to pick up the dvd's- I have most of the episodes on vhs. I just thought the last episode was kinda lame; I wish they would have had a better ending for Fleishman.
