Since there were still quite few good songs in the 90s for films, and since we've covered other aspects of 90s films earlier in this forum, might as well go this way now. My Top 10 list would have to be:

1. It Must Have Love (But It's Over Now),Pretty Woman (Roxette, enough said)

2. A Whole New World, Aladdin (THE anthem of modern Disney)

3. Men in Black, Men in Black (sure,it's not really Smith's song, but I think he played it much better than Rick James)

4. My Heart Will Go On, Titanic (sappy, yes--to the extreme--but somehow it fits the story wonderfully; love the flute solos before the verses for the Old World feel)

5. Somewhere in My Memory, Home Alone (not the ultimate Hughes song but definitely a top 5er. I dare anyone to say they didn't cry of times gone by the first time they let the credits roll all the way and heard the song in full)

6. The Closing of the Year, Toys (a great holiday piece from the people who brought us Video Killed the Radio Star, one that needs to be made a radio station regular come December)

7. Can You Feel the Love Tonight?, The Lion King (Elton stood up for making it a love song rather than a satire piece and took home an Oscar for it)

8. Kiss From a Rose, Batman Forever (one of the few saving graces of the Schumacher Batfilms that would have worked better with Chris Farley and David Spade in the leads if you ask me)

9. I Don't Want to Miss a Thing, Armageddon. (Again, the song's the film's only saving grace)

10. Beautiful Stranger, Austin Powers: the Spy Who Shagged Me (one of the few Madonna songs that doesn't creep me out; the 60s swing on the number is, well, on the number)

Which others would you add to the list?

Everything I Do (I Do It For You) - you could measure your life against this song.

'Love Is All Around' (Wet, Wet, Wet, 4 Weddings And A Funeral), this was another one that refused to die, who knows, if Marti Pello hadn't called for it to be withdrawn it could STILL be top of the pops [Wink]

Stay (I Missed You) Lisa Loeb,'Reality Bites' not a huge fan of the song or singer, but it worked in the excellent movie that was 'Reality Bites'.

The music for Men In Black wasnt originally from a Rick James song: Its from a Patrice Rushton song called Send Me Forget Me Nots.

I was going to say SINGLES was a good soundtrack but somebody beat me to it. And, yes, twas a bad movie. Oh well. How anything with Matt Dillon and a good soundtrack can be bad astound me, but they found a way!
