I am watching this on TNT right now. I just absolutely fell in love with this film the first time that I saw it. I think that Pam Ferris as The Trunchbull is absolutely priceless. I love the films that Danny DeVito has directed so far like this one and Duplex.

Matilda has such a dark yet sunny side about it. I wasn't even aware of it until a few years ago that this was originally a novel by Roald Dahl, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and James and the Giant Peach.

I cannot think of one scene from this movie that I didn't like. I watch it everytime it is on and I also own the DVD special edition version because the other one I had wore out.

"Sit down you squirming worm of vomit"--Agatha Trunchbull. So many snide little remarks in this. It is quickly becoming a favorite of my son's, and he is almost to the point where he isn't scared of The Trunchbull.

What are some of your favorite memories of this film???

I loved this movie. When I used to babysit my nieces we used to watch it all the time. Theres a scene where Mrs Trunchbull is chasing someone and screams "Tally Ho!" I used to chase them around the house yelling "Tally Ho!"
Since I was their babysitter thats how they would let me know if I was doing a good job or not. When I was bad they would call me "Miss Trunchbull" and when I was good they would call me "Miss Honey".
I actually have this book and have never read it. Now that I have a six year old maybe we can read it together.
And I really should get her the movie...she's never seen it.

Nice movie, and the little girl is just adorable. It just makes you feel all warm and fuzzy. When the Trunchbull picks up that little girl by the pigtails and throws her out the window, that was scary. O.O
