This is driving me crazy. On broadcast tv, I've forgotten the network, in the early 80s, there was a fake news broadcast about some greenpeace type of terrorist that hold Charleston harbor under threat of a nuclear detonation. It was a movie ala'"war of the worlds". What is the name of this movie? HELP

It was a TV-movie called "Special Bulletin" (1983). It was made by the same folks who brought you the TV series "thirtysomething".

I remember watching it at the time. It was shown on NBC-TV.

A dock workers strike in Charleston, South Carolina was taking place, so a TV reporter and camera crew were there to cover it. But at the same time, they were taken hostage.

The entire TV-movie was shown as if you were watching an actual news broadcast. But NBC had to put in a disclaimer at the bottom of the screen saying that it was a "dramatization".

Still, some people in Charleston actually got panicked! [Eek!]

This is what you were thinking of:

Hope this helps! [Cool]
