hey Bernie. when we were discussing dobermans on the tv topic it made me want to do some research on the lads from Magnum. I wonder if they are on Imdb.

this is not a movie and not even 80s so i hope u dont mind. There are a couple dobermans in the 1990 musicvideo of Up All Night by Slaughter.

Yeah Warrior. Some of those are pretty good like the Jack Black, Ron Pearlman, Taylor Swift.

I would replace Paris Hilton with Spicoli. They have they exact hairdo.

TNT. I found some info on the lads. Hard to say if it's accurate or not:

According to Larry Manetti's book Aloha Magnum, Zeus and Apollo were played by several different Doberman Pinchers throughout the show's run. In the first half of Season One, three local Doberman Pinchers were used, two female dogs named "Cola" and "Nohea", and one male named "Joe". When their trainer, Karl Lewis Miller, left the show mid-season, professional Hollywood animal trainer Scott E. Hart was brought in as the official animal supervisor for the show. At the beginning of Season Two, the producers had Scott Hart bring his own dogs from the mainland, and they were two males and one female. The two males were "Whiskey" and "Brutus" and the female was "Dominique". At the beginning of Season Four, Scott was told that the dogs were being written out of the script in order to save costs. However, the "Lads" were saved by Tom Selleck and John Hillerman who didn't want the show to go on without them!

In 1987 two of the dogs were featured in a public service announcement bringing awareness to the dangers of leaving dogs in a hot car:

interesting. i wonder how much they were gonna save by rooting the dogs out. sounds like American management at its norm. Renting that big house, a Ferrari, tom Selleck and filming in the middle of the Pacific on an island. "THOSE DOGS MUST GO! THEY ARE KILLING OUR BUDGET!" Sounds about right.

I do not remember that service announcement but I did enjoy watching it. Did they ever have all three dogs on at once or was it always two.

I could imagine the show going really budget. Higgins and Magnum move out of the mansion and haul up in a motel room off the side of the highway. The owner disowns the lads because they are no longer bringing in any money so they move into the motel also. Magnum now has to catch the bus around to investigate cases and T.C is now running a rickshaw service instead of the chopper. Rick is working as a delivery boy for a run down Chinese restaurant. Higgins no longer acts sophisticated and turns to alcohol and has a habit of tearing up the hotel room when Magnum is out.

Perhaps the actors playing Higgins, Magnum, T.C and Rick all get replaced by cheaper actors too and the show is only recognisable by the name Magnum P.I. at the start [Big Grin]

"Oh, you want to play rough, do you!? All right, let's play rough!" (bites Doberman #1's nose, punches Doberman #2 square in the jaw, others turn tail and run) "Let that be a lesson to you, you mutts!"

No not that I can remember terd, here's one quote from the film below -

 -
Remo and chiun.

Chiun: It would be better for you to eat this can than what is inside of it. Why must everything in this country be coated with monositi-... monosoti...
Remo Williams: Monosodium glutamate. You can't even say it.
Chiun: I can say "rat droppings." That does not mean I want to eat them.
