In the movie, the scene where Masters(William Dafoe) meets his girlfriend back stage they show him waiting in her dressing room, and shows her from behind. But it is clearly a guy. Why show a guy to begin with, then switch to the girl? What are they trying to do there?

Also I remembered a moment from Spike Lee's Inside man where the police were given a riddle about money, and William Dafoe's character knew what money was made out of. Funny stuff

Yeah, I noticed that too! I think he may have did this to add a gay subtext. I always felt Friedkin put some homosexual tension between the male characters in this movie.

You might be right, but my brother pointed out that the scene was and example to show the audience that things are never what they seem to be. Characters with in this world are as counterfeit as the money Masters makes. Everyone is decieving everyone.
