"A few years from now, Earth will have the first contact with an alien civilisation.
These aliens, known as Newcomers, slowly begin to be integrated into human society
after years of quarantine but are victims of a new type of discrimination.
When the first Newcomer police officer, Sam Francisco is assigned his new partner,
he is given Matthew Sykes , a mildly racist veteran,
the animosity between them soon gives way to respect as they investigate the Newcomer underworld,
and especially Newcomer leader William Harcourt." (IMDb)

Just watched Alien Nation (1988) first time after 20 years.
It´s a good buddy cop action flick with sci-fi elements, set in 1991.

Starring James Caan, Mandy Patinkin and Terence Stamp.
Peter Jason, Jeff kober and Brian Thompson are some of the co-stars.
Caan and Patinkin have a nice chemistry. Good jokes and one-liners.

The popularity of the film's concept spawned a television series in 1989 (22 episodes)
and five television movie sequels during the 1990s,
in an attempt to continue the character development surrounding the fictional alien culture.
Never seen the tv-series or the any of the tv-movies.

The soundtrack is decent, composed by Curt Sobel
and i like the end credits tune "Indestructible" by Four Tops.

Four Tops - Indestructible

Great action, nice street scenes, cool alien special effects and Rambo 6 in theaters already in 1991? [Smile]

Check it out!

I like this film but love the TV series [Big Grin] The George in the series is way better than the one in the film. And Gary Graham has all Caan's little nuances down great. I still need to buy that pack of the TV films.

That's one of the 5 TV films. They're a continuation of the TV show [Smile]

It would be awesome to see the tv-series, may need to buy the dvd-set.
Eric Pierpoint must be real good if he´s way better than Patinkin [Cool]

"Alien Nation" is one of my favorite sci-fi films from the '80's. Really enjoyed the storyline, make-up on the aliens, action scenes, etc. The social commentary re: having aliens from another planet be an analogy for how the U.S. treats immigrants was fairly in your face, but it did made for an interesting/entertaining film.

I did not think the Alien Nation TV series (or later TV movies) held a candle to this original '88 film.
