Hey! This bandwagon is getting out of control [Wink]

Tron is one that I can think of.

One of the more aesthetically pleasing looking cabinets in the arcades.

 -

The original movie came out in '82 with Jeff Bridges and then spawned a remake recently.

I think the film was based on the game, so please forgive me.

i think they got this one just right with a excellent reproduction of jerry goldsmith's score considering the c64's capabilities, you actually feel as if your playing as rambo! "murdoch, i'm coming to get you!"

wow! that tron arcade cabinet looks amazing! that would definitely grab my attention when entering an arcade!

No other machine looked this dynamic in the arcades at the time and I think that's why it got so much attention. It is a great game though too.

Posted by aTomiK (Member # 6575) on :

Thatīs one cool machine!

Itīs no moviegame but i remember playing Miami Vice a lot.

Unfortunately I wasn't fortunate enough as a kid to have a C64.

Did you guys check out the new C64 that's available. Paul posted a link to it in another thread. I really would like to get it.

Posted by aTomiK (Member # 6575) on :

It would be awesome to get it. I donīt really like modern games.

Posted by Bernie_Lomax (Member # 8571) on :

I love games from all eras, but have a major soft spot for old school games.

My older brother is a gamefreak.
He has at least 16 different consoles and a nice game collection.

Iīve played some x-box games but Sega Saturn and N64 were the last consoles i really liked.

i think the marshallow man is in desperate need of the mensroom! http://youtu.be/fsC2bxxuz0c ghostbusters on the c64.

Hey Warrior..

the first thing that popped into my head was:

 -

The version that I'm talking about didn't get released until 2009, but I've had a lot of fun playing it. I remember a thread where someone mentioned it and of course once Ronnie said she was interested .. I had to try to beat her at it. [Big Grin]

Overall, if you are a huge fan of the original "Ghostbusters" and the spinning around of 1st person shooters doesn't bother you (I must admit it makes my head woosy at times).. then I highly recommend this game.

Still the legend in first person shooters though is "Goldeneye 007" for the Nintendo 64.

valley this version http://youtu.be/D8JLiDc1eEI ,if so yeh i downloaded the demo to it and thought it was really good! miami vice and friday the 13th sound fun, i'll have to check them out! goldeneye on the n64 my brother in law was addicted to that game, everytime i used to pop over to see him he'd would be glued to the screen!

Okay.. so you want one from the 80's that I had a ton of fun with?

How about:

 -

I played this thing quite a bit!

Posted by Valley (Member # 1322) on :

Warrior.. I think the "Ghostbusters" PS3 version might be the best gameplay, but for coop play if I remember correctly .. it seems like the wii version was the way to go.

Dirty Harry for NES
Indiana Jones and the last crusade

Would you believe there was a time in my youth when I was actually addicted to playing this atrocity. When I think of the countless hours spent just mindlessly going back and forth from port to port collecting shells...grrrr...what a waste!

Posted by the young warrior (Member # 9554) on :

what was top gun like valley,in the style of a flight sim or was it more of a arcade shooter? wow! a dirty harry game http://youtu.be/07N00ulqlrw and a jaws as well http://youtu.be/sN8-TgIdlAs and even a friday the 13th game http://youtu.be/OfyDRb0apjE what ever next a gremlins 2 game! omg! it's gremlins 2 http://youtu.be/4olliUcvt9g . sorry guys! i know its a 1990 film & game but i just had to post it! ps. i take it pyro you don't play jaws anymore!

I’m a Spectrum man, myself.

 -

Rambo was a great game, aTomiK. Almost impossible to clock.

Valley, as much as I love the movie, I could never get to grips with Top Gun on the NES. I seem to remember it taking forever to get going... I'd long to see an aircraft carrier, a Mig, anything but screens and screens of clouds!

I thought the LCD handheld got to the point a lot quicker.

 -

To me, Afterburner was what Top Gun should have been.

 -

I also liked the fact that back then, they pretty much made a game out of any movie, it didn't necessarily even have to be related to the film: just a game with those characters and the title. Who could forget these awesome, but totally random, movie tie-ins?

 -

Stupidly difficult but addictive duelling epic.

 -

Yes, its a Raquel Welch movie from the 1960s, but who cares?

The ZX81 was a computer , not a console.

How about "A View to a Kill", released on many systems, but let's stick with the Spectrum..

A View to a Kill

j2me i have now changed it from console to computer ! i hope that makes you happy!

Posted by J2ME (Member # 5728) on :

Yeah, sorry about that. I was a bit abrupt. -

Posted by the young warrior (Member # 9554) on :

no hard feelings j2me,my mistake! there's a big difference between a console and a computer, for starters if the zx was a console we wouldn't of had those tedious loading times!

I read the thread title and I was like oh cool 80s movies board games! Why didn't i think of video games?

It might of been me Valley, talking about Ghostbusters on someone's thread about The Back to the Future PC games. I bought it a few months ago that and a Dirty Dancing PC game lol I felt I had too [Smile]

Posted by Valley (Member # 1322) on :

Muffy.. I thought the new BTTF video game had awesome graphics and incorporated elements of the movies brillantly. But the demo I downloaded on my PS3 was a bit boring and rather easy.. so I didn't buy it.

But I definitely recommend the new Ghostbusters game.

Speaking of old games, there's lots of sites where guys talk about and review old games. Anyone here every visit Pat The NES Punk, The Nostalgia Critic or The Engry Video Game Nerd? Highly recommended for old school game fans. Also, wow I didn't know Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street were on the PC too. Were they any good? Here's the classic AVGN vids for Friday, Nightmare and the third part, which is a Power Glove review:

Enjoy. Oh yeah and just in case it's needed, explicit language warning on these videos.

There are a couple that have not been mentioned: Aliens as well as Big Trouble In Little China.

I played both of these on my computer.
