I just wanted to start a new thread for these results because I totally missed them when they were released.

I'm saddened that "Valley Girl" missed out on the Romance Genre, but at least "Just One of the Guys" is representing!

Also, totally agree with "Die Hard" and "Terminator" in the Action Genre.

Most pleasant surprise for me is finding "Night of the Comet" made it as a sleeper in the Thriller Genre though. Kelli Maroney would be proud. [Cool]

And looky looky .. "The Lost Boys" was #1 in the Horror Genre .. oh and .. "Aliens" was #3!

Of course, I now know how "Grease 2" made in the Horror Genre as well.. oops.. that was the Musical Genre. ha [Wink] Btw, I watched "Grease 2" recently and had a blast!

Well, I know Paul put some serious work into the Genre Wars .. and I didn't want anyone else to miss the results like me.

Let's discuss!

I must have missed this first time around. Good to see 'Akira' and 'Beetlejuice' getting some props! Kind of surprised that 'Willow' went over 'Labyrinth', though.

Action - Terminator should be number one

Adventure - can't argue with it too much

Animation - I don't really care about animation

Comedy - There is no way Top Secret should be in there. Caddyshack should be number one.

Drama - Not my forte

Family - ET has to be the most boring and overrated movie. I have never been able to sit through more than half of it.

Fantasy - Have not seen Beetlejuice but the other two are definitely deserving.

Horror -While The Lost Boys is classic it's not really what I would put in there. I would probably replace it with something like Christine. To me Lost Boys seems like corny horror.

Musical - Ehhh

Romance - OK I guess but SKOW is severely overrated.

Sci Fi - Blade Runner sucks and so does any Star Wars movie.

Sport - Quite fair but Rocky 3 is better than 4.

Thriller - Blade Runner (enough said). Have not seen those other 2.

War - I love Stripes but for the war category, I dunno. I would have put something like Heartbreak Ridge in.

Western - Pale Rider had to get it. It's a great movie.

thanks for the re-post Val. i saw the results.. not sure who all voted but i was one of them!

as for horror... hmmm... i am not as big of fan of the Lost Boys as many others on here.. but this movie is not 'horror' at all, to me. the corey's kind of drive me nuts, so i don't like many of their films.
i did vote for Aliens and The Thing though...and i think my other choice was Christine.

as for musicals.. i definitely picked Chorus Line and uh... Grease 2 haha, i know it's your favorite Valley haha, at least you've given it a chance now, since i twisted your arm, and all. [Smile]

bahaha, i am laughing at Mannequin as one of the top romance movies?? ok.

i actually agree with Bernie about E.T.

Thanks for the backup Ronnie. I was actually expecting to get roasted on that one.

well, this happened when we all did the top 20 rewind movies.. after the results were posted, some of us were like, 'seriously???' on some of the choices but at the end of the day, it IS everyone's individual opinion, and so i say, different strokes...

my top 20 list was a bit out there and a lot of my choices didn't even make the cut, so..

"que sera, sera.." [Smile]

Meh. I think the list wasn't too bad. About half 'right', which is pretty good.

Me too. Not that much choice in the 80's!

Sci Fi - Blade Runner rules and so does any Star Wars movie.
Fix'd.

Seen the list but i´ve been waiting for the expanded edition.

In my movie world Big Trouble eats Die Hard for breakfast.

Top Secret! should be no.1!

Doomster beats the Raiders? No way!

But it´s a pretty nice list after all.

Nice try on the Sci Fi Logan. And what's all this Top Secret talk? [Smile]

On a side note we had this Indian family look at the place next door to us. The father was wearing one of those turbans and I was just thinking, oh man I don't want anybody from The Temple of Doom living next door. I couldn't help it.

my pick for Adventures In Babysitting didn't make it to the adventure list, but that's ok. Romancing The Stone and Temple Of Doom are awesome choices!

I've always known Adventures in Babysitting as A Night on The Town. I used to love that movie though.

I love Keith Coogan and Anthony Rapp in it. I still can't help but laugh when Darrel is doing that evil face thing in the back of the car.

Bradley Whitford is like the token 80's teenage bad guy and he's "S0 COOL."

"That's the guy who kicked my *** last summer for touching his car, which I didn't do."
