Hey kids...

I'm putting together a new music video for an 80's-sounding electronic group for a song called 'Diamonds'. I'm planning on using different clips/scenes from 80's flicks. I'm looking for suggestions for movies to use, specifically any titles you can think of that feature scenes with DIAMONDS, JEWELS, CRYSTALS, GLISTENING GOLD, etc.

Help a brother out!

The classic Mad Mission (1982) aka Aces Go Places.

Also Short Circuit 2 included some jewels.

Goonies comes to mind first, with the whole secret treasure thing...and lots of shots with the treasure at the end. I'll scan my movie collection and post some other ideas soon.

A couple more:

* Conan The Barbarian...a few jewel scenes...one in particular where a large jewel is pryed from the mouth of a stone snake...who comes to life when the jewel is stolen...memory a bit vague on this,so details may not be 100%

* The JEWEL Of The Nile..haven't seen this in years...in fact, not even sure if I've even seen the movie at all...but this might be a given considering the title! For that matter, Romancing The Stone and the Indiana Jones series I'm sure all have treasure / jewel scenes.

* Poltergeist...kind of a stretch, but may provide some neat imagery...at the end (spoiler) when some of the dead bodies pop up from the ground...smoe of the corpses are wearing a bit of bling.

* The Great Muppet Caper...the gang in this movie are investigating the theft of a "priceless diamond necklace"...

* The Breakfast Club...Clare famously gives her diamond earing to Bender at the end of the movie...

* Annie....At the end of the movie when Annie is officially adopted by Daddy Warbucks, I believe he gives her a gold necklace to mark the occassion....

Some of these may not be helpful...but that's all I got...

Not a movie, but an 80's TV show you can use: the opening credit sequence of "Dynasty".

Shots of an opening bank vault, diamonds, jewels, oil gusher and other symbols of wealth. Shown in a Freudian way! [Cool]

Steven, that's a PHENOMENAL idea. I'm going to rent some Dynasty now and mess around with some clips (never thought i'd say that!).

I was also thinking of using clips from 70's/80's movies that feature shots of LAS VEGAS. The lights, glamour, glitz......could really work for this video. If you guys have any suggestions for VEGAS flicks, I wanna hear em!

The end of The Marathan Man [1976], has a fight sequence with Dustin Hoffman, and Laurence Olivier fighting over diamonds, the diamonds spill all over the place, could be a lot of shots with diamonds for you.

Currently listening to diamonds by the outrunners, nice French nu rave sound, me likes... looking forward to the video!

TNUC, check out One from the Heart.
They build some very cool Vegas settings in American Zoetrope studios.

Hey TNUC!
Is the video ready?

If not here´s another suggestion.
I just bought Sidney Sheldon´s Master of the Game (1984) dvd set.
I believe that this mini-series has lots of scenes including diamonds and jewelry.

Check out the opening here:

Video is FINALLY completed! Thanks all you lads and ladies for all the cool recommendations. A few of them i used!

Anyways, check out the video if you have a few minutes to spare. Aside from 80s movies, I grabbed several scenes from 80s TV and other obscurities.

Great work.

I especially loved how it looks like a Cannon production,

The last scene was a great way to finish it off and if you are going to choose an 80's year for production, yes it does have to be 85, so well done.

Keep up the good work. Editing was very clean.

That's the shot, TNUC.

I appreciated the video and I thought that it was well put together.

I would give it a "thumbs up."

I rated you in addition.

Just watched the video and i love it!
Fantastic tune with awesome clips!

Every good video begins with a Cannon logo
and i loved the fact that it included lots of 80s cheese [Wink]
Man, i´m hungry for more!
