On the last day of school before summer vacation Michael receives an anonymous love-letter. He hopes it's from Deborah Anne Fimple, the girl of his dreams, but she unfortunately currently dates college jerk Steve Powers. So not quite knowing how to truly get Deborah's attention, Michael takes the advice of best friend Toni who advises him to write her an anonymous love-letter in return. However, these incredible letters get in the wrong hands and cause lots of confusion for everyone involved including Michael and Deborah's parents.

"Secret Admirer" is a fun movie on so many levels and depending on the age you watch it.. you will notice different things that make it better than your average 80's movie.

 -

Great cast with C. Thomas Howell, Kelly Preston, Lori Loughlin, Scott McGinnis, Casey Siemasko, Fred Ward, Dee Wallace, Leigh Taylor-Young, & Cliff De Young..

but the real hidden cast gems are..

Courtney Gains - 80's best bud with great lines in this movie.

John Terlesky - Watch the frat house porch closely.

Doug Savant - Desperate Melrose Teen Wolf - check him out as Steve interrupts his makeout session.

Ernie Lively - Father of Eric Lively and Blake Lively.. stepfather of Lori Lively, Jason Lively, and Robyn Lively.

And as far as the movie.. nothing more fun than crashing a Kappa Omega frat party and dissing Steve Powers!  Well, that is until you flip him the bird as you make your getaway in Roger's van and then suddenly realize you are heading down a dead end street..

 -

Some of my fav stuff from "Secret Admirer" is noticing:

- Corey Haim eating Fruit Loops and chocolate syrup for breakfast.  The day Corey died.. part of my tribute to him was eating a bowl of Fruit Loops with chocolate syrup.

- The Debbie Harry poster over Michael's bed as he is penning his greeting card love-letter to Deborah Anne Fimple. And then seeing the Casablanca poster on Toni's wall as she is rewriting Michael's love-letter with her magically touch.

- Steve Powers frat room.. jock strap hanging from tv, beer cans in window, Alpha Romeo poster with ski poles in the corner.

- Bragging by Roger to his friends.. plus Roger's soon to be 'customized by Toni' van all while enjoying the atmosphere of The Dancin' Burger.

- Totally love the pool scene .. Toni in a red bikini on a yellow float and Michael in yellow trunks on a red float.  It is such a stylish scene and so awesome how Toni shows her frustration with Michael's blindness to her own awesomeness by spin off the float into the water as he mentions writing Deborah another love-letter.

I won't give away the ending just in case their might be someone out there that hasn't seen "Secret Admirer" as of yet.. but I must mention that the School-A-Float looked way cool!

Christian Demure edition!! you crack me up Valley that is one of those parts that makes me chuckle so hard.....because Kelly Preston plays that role so well....the ditz......their first date when she goes on and on about shopping and Micheal's face is just dumbfounded.....awesome!

I watched this last week.....it's truly one of those that doesn't get old for me.

You know as a kid watching it I never knew who wrote the letter till the end haha they secretly show you the hand and the desk in the opening credits and as a kid I was clueless and had no clue til the reveal lol [Big Grin]

I really agree about the supporting cast I just wrote that in another thread a few days ago...awesome movie!!

Secret Admirer is an all-time classic!

First time i saw this movie, i knew that i was going to love Lori Loughlin forever.
The whole cast is just perfect!

And once again i have to tell you that the soundtrack rocks.
Van Stephenson, Autograph, Nik Kershaw, Klymaxx, Kim Wilde, Don Felder...
Wow, that´s 80s magic!

I love this movie too. Though it get's a bit confusing after a while...

And I couldn't agree more on the soundtrack.
I especially like the opening track 'No Secrets' by Van Stephenson. The song is from his album Suspicious Heart.

'Make It Glamorous' from The Wild Life soundtrack is from that same album by the way.

Yeah, No Secrets is one of my favorites.
I own two Van Stephenson cd´s, both highly recommended:

These High Vaultage label releases are now rare collector´s items.
Righteous Anger (1984) and Suspicious Heart (1986)

Scott McGinnis was great as Steve Powers in "Secret Admirer", but he made his most lasting impression for me as Bif Hamilton in "Making the Grade". I did enjoy when Michael kinda broke his nose and borrowed his precious little red sportscar in SA though.

Here is a pic of the stylish pool scene from "Secret Admirer".. Lori Loughlin makes this scene a classic with her reaction to C. Thomas Howell's suggestion.

I've got the van Stephenson suspicious heart CD album atomik,it's got some great tracks on it.

It was from watching secret admirer that made me pick it up,but even aside from - no secrets there's enough quality songs on there to make it a sound

Seriously great movie and soundtrack!
