"Body Heat" and "Third Degree Burn"  had a similar premise and I enjoyed both movies..

 -

In an extemely hot and humid Florida coastal town, an attorney is unable to resist the allure of a beautiful married woman.  The naive attorney is manipulated into killing the woman's much older husband.. the plan being that his knowledge of legal matters will enable both conspirators to escape scott-free.

 -

A private eye who has been hired to trail the seductive young wife of a millionaire becomes the prime suspect when the husband is murdered. The private eye thought it was just another routine job--until he fell for the wife.

My initial thoughts are "Body Heat" was a superior movie and the scenes of passion were way more intense, but I must admit that Virginia Madsen was very enticing in "Third Degree Burn" as well.

Which do you prefer?

I haven't seen Third Degree Burn. It seems interesting, but I'm not a big fan of Treat Williams.
I really liked Body Heat. It was this movie that introduced me to Mickey Rourke. Kathleen Turner was still very beautiful in this one. I last saw her in Marley and Me. It's hard to believe she's the same woman as the sensual Matty in Body Heat.

If it wasn't 90's, you could've also added The Hot Spot (again with Virginia Madsen) to your list of "Hot & Sweaty/ Femme Fatale Thrillers".

Body Heat is a Lawrence Kasdan masterpiece!
A true steamy crime classic.

While i like Third Degree Burn very much and love Virginia,
it just donīt have a chance when compared to Body Heat.
But you have to understand that it was made for television
so it has itīs limitations.

Good job Valley bringing these two great movies out!

Kasdan's a good writer. He was 'sponsored' by George Lucas when he made 'Body Heat'.

She's had some long-term ongoing health issues. What always struck me about her is she seems to have a great personality and a dry humour. That's why she worked so well in funny movies. I think her looks pigeon-holed her at the start of her career. She would've ruled in the 1930's.

"Body Heat" is an amazing neo-noir; just re-watched this, but for the first time on Blu-ray - incredible film.

The Florida setting is great - you can almost feel the sticky heat making your shirt stick to your skin. Kathleen Turner is probably at her hottest in this film [Wink]

Have never heard of "Third Degree Burn" before this thread - I just looked this up, and the film is unfortunately not on DVD/Blu-ray - only on VHS - and, I haven't had a working VHS player in 20 years...
