I remember seeing the movie around 1985ish.
It had a sci-fi feel to it, and all I could remember is:
There were two characters, both male.
One was a bad guy, who went around an urban city (LA? Seattle? Chicago?) hurting/killing people, and he had some sort of monster, dark in color that lived inside him, and came out of his mouth.
The good guy had somewhat the same thing, but a white light/angelic type thin which he used to save someone's life near the end of the film. I've been going crazy trying to remember the name of the film! Please help.

'The Hidden' is a 1987 science fiction/horror film directed by Jack Sholder. It depicts the hunt for a dangerous alien criminal by an alien police officer who initially poses as an FBI agent (Kyle MacLachlan), working in an uneasy partnership with an LAPD detective (Michael Nouri). Claudia Christian, in one of her first screen roles, plays a stripper who becomes one of the criminal's victims.

I had to pass on all three due to so many Blu-Ray's going on sale the last two weeks. Tonight, I'll compile all the sites that have amazing prices on Blu-Ray's so we can experience 80's films in high def.

I remember the part where Kyle's character is asking the detective to shoot the tires on the stripper's car, with the detective saying "oh if it's that easy, you do it!" and in one shot he gets it. Haha.
