Never seen it.
It was banned here in the late 80s
when we were tortured with the stupid video law.

Watched this Last night an thought it was really good.
You've got the oddest group of people together in an old house, and some guy (who reminded me of the tall guy from phantasm)is controling what happens in the house through a Chess board. [Confused]

A couple of funny charctors in it especially one who keeps popping up with a puppet(and has a great encounter with a Spider).

There's loads of differant killers in it and a garden full of dead people.
All in all a pretty cool horror and fun to watch [Smile]

Watched this the last couple nights. Hewzy mentioned a few things about it although it was a ouiji board of some sort instead of a chess board. The cover art on my copy is really good. It has the zombies and the hot blonde in a white dress.

Winner of the 1986 Delirium Award. Anybody know what that is?

I suppose it had its moments and a few funny parts. Hard to find also. I would give it a 3.5/10.

Anyone else see this movie?

I'm just checking it out now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKWjjhYEdRM

IMDb Trivia: "This film is actually two unfinished and completely unrelated horror films edited together to make one complete."

Hmm

Not seen this one for many years,Infact i think the last time i actually watched it was way back when it was first originally released here back in 1986.

As soon as I read the title to the thread - spookies I immediately thought about how cool the original UK 'palace video' artwork used to be (above pic).

Wouldn't mind checking this one out again actually!

Featuring the muckmen [Confused]

I'd imagine your cover must be very similar to this one then terd?

Wiki:

Spookies started out as a feature film entitled Twisted Souls. The film started shooting in late summer of 1984 and finished principal photography in October of that same year. It was directed by Brendan Faulkner and Thomas Doran, and produced by Frank Farel, Brendan Faulkner, and Thomas Doran. The film "Twisted Souls" was being edited when creative and legal issues between the producers and the financial backer prevented final post production work from being carried out (final editing, scoring, post-effects, etc.).

The original Twisted Souls footage directed by Faulkner and Doran consists of all the teenagers who arrive in the two cars and all the related monsters: Demon/Ouija Girl; Muck Men; Spider Woman; Snake Demons; Hallway Demon; Grim Reaper; and all related effects. The screenplay was written by Frank Farel, Brendan Faulkner and Thomas Doran.

In 1985 the financial backer of Twisted Souls hired Eugenie Joseph to direct more footage which was pieced together with the footage from Twisted Souls, creating Spookies. The added footage by Joseph, with an entirely different cast, includes all the footage of the boy looking for his birthday party; man in tree; Cat-man; old, withered magician; girl in coffin; zombies; witch in basement/cave; and the little blue boy.

Spookies was OK. The effects throughout are pretty good.

Unintentionally hilarious scene

I like how the grim reepers knife got caught in the table. Also the farting monsters were good for a laugh.
