hey i'm looking for a movie that came to my mind tonight that i remember watching in the late 80s and don't have any clue what name it had. it's a christmas movie with sort of a fantasy story behind it. it's christmas and some evil is corrupting the festivus with kind of cursed/poisoned candy canes that are red and white... people eat it and they get the ability ot fly, as far as i remember. it's an american movie and it's dated to the mid/late 80s.

Sounds a lot like Santa Claus the Movie from 1985, from the Salkind family that brought us the Reeve Superman series. Part of evil toy magnate John Lithgow's plan to take over the holidays from the Big Guy does involve duping wayward elf Dudley Moore into creating the weightless candy canes you remember, of which Lithgow is eventually given his comeuppance with in the end. A modest film, but still very much enjoyable come the holidays.
