this is for my fiance, he remembers some of this movie. hopefully someone can help
its halloween on earth and a radio station plays orsen wells "war of the worlds". aliens passing by pick up on the signal and think that fellow aliens need help destroying earth. they land in an old mans barn, they begin searching for the "battle" that's taking place and get picked up by a mom taking a bunch of kids trick-or-treating. eventually they find out there is no war, but there is a robot in their ship that still wants to destroy the planet. the old man ends up tricking the robot by handing him a dynamite stick telling it its an award. the old man says hes going to take a picture, lights up the dynamite for "more light" then kaboom (lol)

Spaced Invaders from 1990 of course!
I haven't seen that one since it was new, but it is available on DVD.
