Lets play ---- OR -----?

We have to take two 80s favorites and pit them against eachother.

They can be from different movies/tv shows/bands but lets get started by using some that were in the same thing together okay?

PRETTY IN PINK : Blaine OR Ducky?

blaine sounds like an appliance.

ducky ftw.

so many choices, but how about:

Amanda OR Watts?

Amanda Vs Watts

Depends on what you want them to do. as a drummer, Watts every time. As a love interest, I couldn't get between them (although I'd have a damn good try and a lot of fun doing so!)

In a fight? Watts is scrawny and muscular, but Amanda has the advantage of height, weight and intensity.

Hell, as long as it went the full 15 rounds, I don't care who actually won.... [Big Grin]

Here's one for you:

Overdog or John Bender?

Posted by jdocster (Member # 5752) on :

Paul,

Come on now, Watts is a "street" girl. She would kick the crap out of Amanda. Hey, a good cat fight is hard to find. [Big Grin]

Who the heck is Overdog?

Posted by Valley (Member # 1322) on :

jdoc, you know Overdog right? I mean who isn't on top of "Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone" trivia?

So what you're really trying to say is stick with Barry Manilow's wardrobe and go with Bender.

Tommy from "Valley Girl" or Greg Tolan from "Just One of the Guys"

Disagree - they are like strawberry cream (Watts) and hazelnut fondant (AJ) - Watts has the hard shell but at the end of the movie she's blubbing like a baby. Whereas Amanda, who on the outside is all fluffy, has a heart of steel.

I reckon their true characters are the opposite of what you see for most of the movie - it's only really the last 5 minutes that show what they are like inside, and that's what counts in a toe-to-toe brawl......

Posted by mamamiasweetpeaches (Member # 1715) on :

Okay so far I say

Ducky all the way

Watts but only by a little - I really did like them both

Tommy from VALLEY GIRL (Greg from JUST ONE OF THE GUYS was a funnier villain overall, but I wouldnt have fallen for his douchebaggery for one minute, where Tommy was sneakily charming- yeah, I might have falled for that (like Loryn did!)

I didnt know who Overdog was either. Was that cleared up for us yet? Well, whatever...I like Bender anyway cuz he was like an old M & M you find in your sofa cushions : hard and nasty on the outside but the middle still has a sort of sweetness to it!

I'm still thinking how that Amdanda vs. Watts fight would pan out thanks to Paul's mad "culinary ringside" analysis, in fact, its thrown me from focsuing on the questions at hand.

Indiana Jones or Han Solo?

Posted by 80'sRocked (Member # 6979) on :

Watts would kick Amanda's a$$. I would rather see them mud-wrestle. [Big Grin]

Indy or Solo....tough one. Probably Indy because Solo is too much of a clown.

Is anyone else concerned that mamamiasweetpeaches is eating crusty M&Ms that she is finding in her couch and that she apparently has forgotten 'that stuff tastes like Clorox"?

Ok that was borderline offensive and I apologize mamamiasweetpeaches. But great analysis of both Bender and Tommy.

CLOROX. Bahahahahaha!

Indiana Jones Vs Han Solo? Thats a tuff one. Gee, they sorta even LOOK alike! *

Whose cooler? Indy!

Who'd win in a fight? Indy!

Whose movies do I prefer: Indy!(not thats Han's are anything to sneeze at)

Whow as sexier? well, they both were mad sexy but Indy was DIRTY and sexy so he wins this round

Who would I rather do?: Indy!

So Indy wins hans down (pun intended)

* Yes, I am aware they look alike because they are both played by the same actor. Just cuz I eat old M & M s and drink CLOROX I'm not a total idiot.

NowhereGirl, where are you?

Who is posting under your screen name lately? First Dobler, then Gizmo, and now Scooby! Ha... Scrappy Doo?

Posted by NowhereGirl (Member # 465) on :

what is wrong with liking scrappy people?

Posted by xchazx (Member # 7158) on :

adding scrappy doo to the cartoon is the equivalent of adding a baby to a sitcom. it signals certain death.

indy over han(though that was tough)
don't know overdog or bender
greg tolan over tommy
douchebaggery IS a funny word
clorox isn't THAT bad
terminator over robocop
marty over ferris
vernon over rooney(took me a while to figure out who they were. sorry.)
scooby way over scrappy

dallas OR richie OR moody

ouch, xchazx. you all feel strongly about it, i see hehe. [Razz]

I think what xchazx is trying to say is that adding Scrappy Doo to Scooby Doo is like adding Oliver to the Brady Bunch.

Double 'NowhereGirl' ouch!

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

Wow...this a cool topic...

Indy over Hans

Vernon over Rooney

Scooby Over Scrappy

Tommy over Greg

I really wouldn't want to end up with either Duckie or Blaine.

Marty over Ferris

Amanda over Watts

Terminator over Robocop

How about:

Sodapop Curtis OR Dally Winston?

Phoebe Cates OR Betsy Russell in Private School?

Posted by Devolution (Member # 1731) on :

Devolution here,

Greg Tolan is toast...

Scrappy, just because you could understand him.

Edward R. Rooney Dean of Students.

Amanda always.

Robocop because he used to be a human.

Neither ferris or marty.

We are DEVO

Im behind....so I'll just say:

Rooney over Vernon
Scooby over Scrappy
Ferris over Marty (Like 'em both though)
Terminator over Robocop
Dally over Sodapop
Phoeboe Cates over Betsey Ruseell

How bout JEM AND THE HOLGRAMS OR THE MISFITS?

I will be hated for this but I preferred THE MISFITS!

i'm not sure what the misfits is. unless you are talking about the great punk band from jersey. but i'm sure you're not.

i had some 8am classes my freshman year of college in '88. i'd go to breakfast afterwards then head back to my dormroom by 9. my roomate was smarter and always took later classes, so he was always asleep when i got back. i had to get ready for my 10am class so after i'd shower i'd go back to the room and the two shows i watched(since we got like zero channels there) were Jem and the Holograms and The New Gidget. that's the only time i ever watched that cartoon.

so anyway, i'll have to go with jem ftw.

Posted by mamamiasweetpeaches (Member # 1715) on :

Hahaha...I always wondered how they got away with calling that cartoon band THE MISFITS without Glenn Danzig sueing. Possible he never saw the show?

Hans

Rooney

Scooby

Tommy

Blaine (but we'll have to work on the kissing part...haha)

Marty

Amanda

Terminator

How about:

Sodapop Curtis OR Dally Winston? Not sure...

Phoebe Cates

And now here's a few choice decisions for you guys...

Mark Ratner or Mike Damone

Billy Hicks or Alec Newberry

Lori Loughlin or Kelly Preston in Secret Admirer

Grandpa Fred or Grandpa Baker

Bryce or Cliff in Sixteen Candles

Jeff Spiccoli or Tom Drake

Grandpa Fred

Jeff Spiccoli (don't know the other guy)

Lori Laughlin

Mark Ratner

who are the other guys?

Posted by mamamiasweetpeaches (Member # 1715) on :

Good ones.

As an adult I now know better but as a teenager Damone would have won out. His ability to get concert tickets alone would have put him right over the top! The sex woulda sucked but oh the times we would have had at those CHEAP TRICK shows!

Same goes with this next one. I now know youd want an Alex...but damned if I wouldnt have ended up with a Billy.

Lori Loughlin all the way! Didnt just LOVE Toni..I wanted to BE her!

Grandpa Fred

Bryce! (bit part, yes, but that boy grew up to be John Cusack!)

This is a tough one but Tom win because I think Spicoli would start to gte on my nerves agter about 15 minutes!

* ISIS, Tom Drake is Chris Penn in THE WILD LIFE
