I LOVE this movie...

My favorite quote:

Mr. Lightman: This corn is raw!
Mrs. Lightman: I know, isn't it wonderful? It's so crisp!
Mr. Lightman: Of course it's crisp! It's raw!
Mrs. Lightman: No, it's terrific! You can just taste the Vitamin A and D!
Mr. Lightman: Could we have pills and cook the corn?

[Big Grin] heheeee... I love the facial expressions...

I watched this many times as a kid.....still love it. It's actually been quite a while since I've seen it....I own it....so I think I'll check it out.

Oh very much so. The suspense is certainly genuine given it could actually happen, perhaps not exactly as shown here, but certainly so (you also have to appreciate they get this country's alert levels correct, compared to other films that erroneously have Defcon 5 as the Armageddon stage). You like the characters--all the characters, even harder to pull off--and find them real and three dimensional--in short the kind of people I'd like to hang around with. John Badham doesn't get nearly enough credit as a Grade A director, but I would put him very high up there for everyone over the last 30 years).

I just picked up the 25th Anniversary Edition DVD and had a blast watching the movie again for the first time in years. The making-of doc was great too! It makes for a great double-feature with The Manhattan Project.

Who likes the movie War Games? Is this a trick question? Of course we like it. Great one.

We missed you for a couple weeks Jdoc. Nice to see you're back. [Smile]

Shall we play a game?

How about Global Thermonuclear War!

"War Games" is celebrating it's 25th anniversary with an updated DVD release as journey mentioned. Don't slam me too bad "Breakfast Club" fans, but "War Games" is my fav Ally Sheedy movie.

It is hilarious to watch this movie and see the computers and realize how much technology has changed in 25 years.

I agree with you. She never looked cuter in her life.

Definitely cuter in War Games than in Breakfast Club.

Agreed. I definitely would have asked Jennifer Mack out if I had the opprtunity; she's exactly the type of girl I would have been interested in at the same age.

Been watching more John Badham stuff.
Watched WarGames yesterday, still a wonderful movie.

The cast rocks. Love Broderick and Sheedy.
Dabney Coleman, Barry Corbin and John Wood as Falken are also great.
Didnīt remember that Michael Madsen was also in this.
And yeah, Eddie Deezen has a role too [Cool]

The Wikipedia says that Martin Brest was originally hired as director but was fired after 12 days of shooting
because of an on-set argument with the producers and replaced with John Badham.

The film was pretty succesful, costing US$12 million and grossing $79,567,667 in the United States and Canada.

It was a bona-fide blockbuster back in the day. It seems to have slipped down people's radar since then. I'm not sure people get just how big a hit it was.

John Badham had a golden touch back then. I just watched 'Saturday Night Fever' again, and it was still good.

Totally disagree. Dandruff is the way to my heart.
