Jerry Bruckheimer refuted rumours of a second round in 2006, but it seems the success of our decade's finest: Indiana Jones, Rambo, John Maclaine and Rocky may've sparked interest in giving Maverkick back his wings for 'Top Gun II'.

Personally, I think they should let Vally & myself come up with the story (I've got a great idea for how they could make a sequel work) though Jerry B, that company man, wouldn't touch that idea with a ten foot cattle prod (so I guess we'd be the Dr Venkman and Stanz of the movie sequel world). They say, this one involes Maverick as a Top Gun instructor trying to bring an unruly lady piolt under control...sounds terrible, hope by "under control" they don't mean Frank T.J. Mackey style! I seriously doubt if Cruise would be interested, but you never know, he could just feel the need for speed...again.

Man I'm not feeling it, unless there is a plot concerning Goose's child teaming up with Cruise to fight terrorists or something. Just a shot in the dark.

I can just see the trailer:

Whoa, I don't know how they could remake this flick. Maybe Maverick's son?

"That's right Ice.....man, I am dangerous."

Kash, the folks that take on this screenplay will definitely be on "You Lost That Lovin' Feeling" crash and burn alert. I'd be shocked if Cruise is up for it, but it is starting to look like the bottom of the 9th for him, so anything is better than..... hemlock.

I can guarantee right now that Kash's script idea is far superior to the one they are entertaining currently. Kash, do you still have the number to that trucking school we saw on tv?......TruckMaster I think it is.

I did read an article where Tom Cruise had been approached to make a sequel. I highly doubt that it will happen. It has been too far gone since the original was released and he probablly feels that there wouldn't be any need for another one. I don't really see how they could top it anyway. I would be disappointed I think because they would do it with a bunch of young guys and it would take the fun out of it for me. But who knows anything could happen if the money is right for him.

I think Cruise is actually doing OK. He's got 5 movies coming out in the next year or two (look at imdb.com) so I think he'll be OK. He's a huge star so he will make a comeback. Besides he bought a huge chunk of United Artists studios...

jdoc, I'm a huge Tom Cruise fan, but let's face it his career is on image damage control at this point. "Valkyrie" has no shot at main stream success and his cameo in "Tropical Thunder" is just a prelude at his attempt at comedy with "Hardy Men". I will say that "Edwin A. Salt" looks promising and might help bring his 80's mojo back.

"No boys....there's two 'O's in Goose."

I'm going to need a beer to put these flames out. Yo! Great Mav, real slick.

Valley, I'm supersonic I'll be there in 30 seconds to an hour [Cool]

I'm going to have to second my wingman here: Cruise simply doesn't have the fuel for this, if he hits the brakes with a few bad movies, his career could fly right by. I was really looking forward to 'Valkrye' but the trailer seems, dare I say it, a bit boring. Bryan Singer (a great director) should have gone the Gibson route and filmed it in German with subtitles.

The plaque for the alternates is down in the ladies room.

Cruise should make 'Top Gun II' (my version), then do a character driven movie like 'Magnolia', then some kind of sci-fi. Personally, I think he would make a great Spiderman (circa Ultimate Spiderman and 'The Other' angle from the comics)

Crash and burn huh Mav? Slider(sniffs).......you stink.

Top Gun sequel? I really think Losin it 2 would work, no seriously, I think they are more likely to remake Top Gun and maybe call it something else thatn do a sequel. I'm surpised they didn't do a sequel back in the 8o's, after all weren't there something like 3 Iron Eagles?

You guys are all knowledgeable about Top Gun and very funny... [Big Grin]

Losin it 1 - Oh amigo, you are HUGE!
Losin it 2 - Oh amigo, are you back for a "second date"?

Tower, this is Ghost rider requesting a flyby.
That's a negative Ghost rider, the pattern is full.
Sorry Goose, but it's time to buzz a tower. [Big Grin]

They should title the sequel as "Top Gun 2: Electric Boogaloo"! [Big Grin]
