We've been discussing this for ages and cannot agree so please help...

Is the gorilla real? (Not Beaks but the one he gets put with)...

Thank you!

I personally don't think so. It seems a lot like a guy weating a suit, and its movements seem more akin to this than a real gorilla.

No, the gorilla is not real. Pretty obvious really. A real gorilla doesn't look that comical.

That's no way to talk about Jamie Lee Curtis. Shame on you.

The gorilla is fake. I seem to remember hearing that the guy in the suit was Rick Baker. This is the guy that does special effects for many movies past and present. But don't quote me on it being Rick.

I read somewhere that the property master had a gorilla suit made especially for the film but that none of the actors they auditioned was able to give a realistic enough gorilla performance and it all looked too fake.

In the end they had to get a real gorilla to dress up in the gorilla suit, in order to get the natural performance and mannerisms they wanted.

Oops sorry. Rick Baker does makeup for films! Duh. But sometimes his makeup is so good that it looks like a special effect. The more I think about it, I think it was him in that suit!
