In England they've been showing them on ITV2 each saturday night at 8pm. Tonight's police Academy 4.
I enjoy watching the first 6, but I don't think I have a favourite though.
Although Zed's probably my favourite character, played by Bobcat Goldthwaite.
I saw him on The Donnie And Marie show once.

4, followed closely by 3. They were never quite the same without Mahoney, but everyone else stepped up quite well, including my personal favorite Tackleberry.

Police Academy 1-4: Best of the series.

Police Academy 5-7: Utter Rubbish.

Out of the four, I'd have to say that the original was clearly the best.

Heartily agree.....

It's a bit like the Star Trek movies - only in the case of Police Academy, the lower te number the better the movie....

Devolution here,

I do like part 2 the best, I don't really know why, and the first one is of course great.

1 and 2 for me, still remember the day I saw them at the cinema. A proper cinema where you queued out on the street, awww the good old days.

Our local was once an old theatre, so you had a couple of small screens downstairs (kinda like the preview rooms at Pinewood studios and the like) and then the grand staircase upstairs into the big screen, which took up kinda like 90% of the whole building. They had a big area in front of the screen where the orchestra pit used to be, and loads of plush velvet seating. Oh - and an upper tier / lower tier layout.

Saw my first ever cinema movie there (Dr Doolittle - the original and best, with Rex Harrison) and also had both my first solo cinema trip - The Spy Who Loved Me - and my first sneaking-in-to-X-rated-whilst-underage visit ("10")....

Happy days.......

My favourite is solely the first. The rest I won't watch, much less write reviews of for the Rewind.

In fact, I will be putting them on the do not review film list.

I agree with the majority that the series dropped off after Steve Guttenberg bailed after #4, which would get my vote as the best one, so at least he left in style.

definitely the first police academy for me,though i did enjoy parts 2,3 and 4,saw the 2nd and 4th one at the theatre,as for parts 5 and 6 they were terrible by comparison, never seen part 7 and i am in no rush to either.

I love the 1st one! and have to agree with everyone else about 1-4 being great and then its downhill from there!

I don't really care for any of these movies..if i had to choose though, guess will just have to go with the original. Though I do remember Bobcat Goldwaith being pretty crazy funny in the 4th one..so, I guess I'll go 1-4 too.

The 4th one because they had skateboarding in it. Steve Caballero, Lance Mountain, Tommy Guerrero, Mike McGill and Chris Miller. Excellent!! =)

I´ve seen each Police Academy film many, many times.
The first one is the best but somehow i enjoy all of them.
These movies are the best hangover flicks.
You can sleep a little, wake up and get back to the action [Wink]

I saw part 2 first so it will always remain my favourite. Stopped watching after part 5 to be honest.

My mother's name was Noms head [Cool]

Got to go with the 3 for the same reason Noms said, it was the first one I had seen and the one I watched the most. I do love 1-4 but could still get laughs out of the rest of them. I have not seen any of them except 2&3 for such a long time that I don't know what I'd think of the others. I feel like it would be a great Saturday marathon!

"I'm sorry, sir; was that, 'The dim shootist snare off?'" You have to love Procter's utter stupidity. And 4 also had the best revenges, between this, Harris inadvertantly macing his armpits and ending up looking like a scarecrow, and then having some helium for lunch ("NOW THAT IS THE WAY IT'S DONE IN CAPTAIN HARRIS'S PRECINCT...HOOKS!!!").

the scenes with the blue oyster bar used to crack me up - http://youtu.be/tdbt-sx5MDc .

i remember seeing a t-shirt somewhere with " i survived the blue oyster bar" written on it,thought it was funny, not that i would wear one personally though! [Big Grin]
