I think the 80s had the best film soundtracks, there are so many cool songs and scores. What's your guys favourite? I guess I have many. Bill And Ted's Excellent Adventure was awesome, a wonderful film as well, followed by a great sequel. Extreme's Play With Me, kind of blows me away, along with the positive-messaged In Time and Walk Away, played during Bill and Ted's history presentaion.
It may not be hip, either during today's times or back then, but I don't follow what's supposed to be hip.
I have my own version of what's cool.

Devolution here,

The best soundtrack is Sixteen Candles, if they would ever make a version of it that actually has all of the songs from the movie it wouldn't even have a chance at having a second.

I also like Some Kind of Wonderful
Pump up the Volume
and probably

Fast Times at Ridgemont High has the best original soundtrack.

Hi Devo. Yeah, I like Raised On The Radio from Ridgmont High, that was cool and Everybody Knows and If It Be Your Will was cool from Pump Up The Volume as well. It's unlikely a week will pass by that a song from the following film won't be heard from my brother Paul's bedroom (who's 30 years of age). -

Echo Devo's comment about Pump Up The Volume and Some Kind Of Wonderful - cd of this one is in my car stereo right now.

Also need to mention Streets Of Fire.

"Breakin'" has to be one of my faves, got the vinyl but the original 1984 CD is too expensive on eBay, managed to get the original "Breakin' 2" CD cheap though [Smile]

I love the Tangerine Dream music in "Risky Business" and Vangelis' music in "Blade Runner".
"Ghostbusters" 1+2, "Real Genius", "The Wizard", "Rock & Rule", "The Wraith", "The Blues Brothers", "Rad", "Tuff Turf" all have some top rockin' tunes in them.

All the soundtracks I've mentioned I have on my portable mp3 player, just cos you never know when you want to listen to "Real Life - Send Me An Angel"

It's a horse race between The Blues Brothers and Caddyshack.

Hello, everyone! I am new to this messageboard. This is a great website and forum! You have all listed some awesome soundtracks. If I had to pick just a few, I think my favorite 80s rock soundtrack would be "Footloose" (my #1 favorite), and certain songs from other soundtrack would include "Holiday Road" from VACATION, "Cry Little Sister" from THE LOST BOYS, "Good Enough" from THE GOONIES, and a number of others. My favorite film score soundtracks would be THE LAST STARFIGHTER by Craig Safan, HOOSIERS, GREMLINS, and THE SECRET OF NIMH by Jerry Goldsmith, KRULL and COCOON by James Horner, and E.T. by John Williams, and THE BOY WHO COULD FLY by Bruce Broughton.
