OK - new thread, new question....

Give the name of the last 80s movie you watched, and a mark out of ten. No other comments, and no discussion allowed on this thread - just your mark for your latest 80s movie experience. If you feel led to discuss any of the movies, start another thread about that flick.

To start it off: High Road To China - 8.5/10

The remake of Cat People (1982):

Overall...I'd give it 8.5 out of 10. The stuff below explains why, if anyone's interested:

Acting & casting: Excellent (Nastassia Kinski, Malcolm McDowell, Ruby Dee, & John Heard played the most wonderful performances.)
Cinematography: Superb
Action: Very, very good
Gory scenes: Made me feel just a bit sick (but otherwise, I could handle it)
S*x / nudity: The final lovemaking scenes were rather sweet (if you consider the relationship between the heroine & her sweetheart Oliver), but the incest elements were, of course, bad with a capital B (cat curses just don't justify it). I'll admit that the scenes with Tessa Richards & the prostitute took it a wee bit far, & I personally think that some of the nudity borders along the line of "semi-gratuitous". But then again, it's probably just me... ^^;;

Overall, not a bad remake, IMO, & a lot better than I thought it would be. [Smile] And if anyone doesn't like it, well, all I can say is that I've seen way worse.

Trick or Treat 9/10

The only reason it doesn't get a 10 is because some of the acting is really bad! Still, a kick-as$ film and worth a look just to see Ozzy Osbourne playing a clean-cut TV evangelist! Sweet! [Cool]

[Confused]

Hulk Hogan? You must be thinking of Mr. Nanny, which is a comedy flick from 1993 starring The Hulkster.

Mr. Mom is a 1983 comedy classic starring Michael Keaton. Our beloved John Hughes wrote the screenplay.

Fletch

I enjoyed it ok... but might have enjoyed it more if I wasnt so tired... Oh and for some reason (I dont know if its my tv or my dvd player) but whenever I watch most DVDs, the sound effects and music are BLARING, but the dialogue is a whisper. So in order to hear what they are saying I have to crank the sound, and then as soon as there is an effect or music it BLARES...

this is a problem since I have to wait till my kids are asleep to watch movies. DOH. DOH. Oh well one day they will be older and they can just watch them with me [Smile]

The only reason it doesn't get a 10 is because some of the acting is really bad! Still, a kick-as$ film and worth a look just to see old school special creature effects plus Stephen Dorff in his first film role. Neat! :-D
