I've been re-reading the book "Fade Out: The Calamitous Final Days Of MGM" by Peter Bart. All throughout the book is talk of titles that were never made by the studio. The following movies were all in development at MGM in the 80s. Would you wanted to have seen any of them?

----------

-"Turn Left Or Die"-"...A black comedy about air traffic controllers".

-"Road Show"-A cattle rancher, fed up with the prices he's being charged to get his animals to Kansas City, decides to stage a cattle drive throughout the highways and byways of America.

-"Kingdom"-A movie that deals with "...sexual intrigues among evangelical preachers in the South."

-"Grimms' Fairy Tale"-A movie based on an unknown Grimms' fairy tale "...discovered in a private collection".

-"Fat Thighs And Four Eyes"-"A comedy about a socially inept man, recently divorced, whose 18-year-old son shepherds him out into the brutal world of contemporary dating".

-"Girls' School Boy"-"When the first male student arrives at an all-female prep school, all Hell, and fun, breaks loose".

-"The Peeled Man"-"A love story set on an island about an American artist living on a small, isolated island near Africa amidst revolution and terror".

-"Post Office"-"Neither rain nor sleet can keep these postal workers from their appointed fun-a behind-the-scenes look at a large post office".

-"The Anita Factor"-A movie about "...the relationship between a prep school student and his troubled father".

-"Double Sunrise"-"...A love story involving two young scientists who fell in love at Los Alamos in the early 40s, even as the basic elements of the atomic bomb were coming together".

-"The Earl Of Chicago"-A remake of a 1938 movie about "...a Chicago gangster who, upon release, was informed that he was the sole heir to an earldom, complete with English manor house and servants. He must only return to his ancenstral home to claim his prize. All this comes as a complete surprise to the gangster, who, upon settling into his new home, found himself sliding into the manor and style of 'a proper gentleman'".

-"Mental Case"-A tale about "...a crazed psychic who, while solving murder cases, manages to muddle them up, pointing the finger at the district attorney or some other unlikely suspect".

---------------

So, if these 80s movies were actually made, would you have been interested in seeing any of them?

Sincerely,

John Kilduff
