I know you 80's purists out there are gonna hate this, but as a fan of remakes I found the following story of interest...

"Disney is planning a remake of the 1982 classic TRON and has brought aboard writers Brian Klugman and Lee Sternthal to work on the script. While the original seemed way ahead of its time in the early-80s, the studio felt now was a perfect time to update the film into the world of cyberspace. The original starred Jeff Bridges as a programmer sucked into a computer world and forced to overtake a rogue program. The original was perhaps best-known for its visuals created using various photographic and rotoscopic techniques, despite the fact it wasn't even nominated for an Academy Award for Visual Effects (the FX were so ahead of its time the Academy felt it was "cheating" to use a computer). The film now will reportedly follow a webmaster sucked into cyberspace and forced to make his way through the internet. Wonder if he'll have to wade through spam and porn to get out... Anyway, I have no problem with them updating this film to present day, so long as they keep the Journey soundtrack intact."

I kinda doubt they will keep using Journey on its soundtrack. Chances are, Disney is probably going to want to sell a soundtrack CD for the remake, and therefore, will be using contemporary acts instead.

Besides, why would a movie with a 2k theme of cyberspace use a 70's/80's band like Journey anyway?

I bought Tron just a few years ago, I had totally forgot about it, I remembered it was pretty big back in the day, and I do really like Jeff Bridges, but I don't think we ever made it to the end of the movie, I thought it was kind of hard to follow.

I did get to meet Cindy Morgan in July, she was in Tron.

I am ashamed to admit I have never seen TRON.

Spy Kids 3-D reminded me a little of Tron.
When they remake it I hope they keep the light cycles in it. That was cool. I also liked the disks they threw.
I had the light cycle game and the deadly disc game on my Intellivision.

For fans of "Tron" check out this cool website. Also, the buzz that Noms mentioned about a remake is on the board.

I remember when the 20th anniversary DVD was released there was all this hype about Tron 2.0 film, which turned out to be a computer game :\ so I really do hope they make another film, I know it can't be anything like the original due to how the film was made - no other film has ever been made the same way, shot in black & white and the faces/clothes matted out and coloured frame-by-frame, helluva laborius process.

Anyway on the subject of Tron, I just did this:

the cycle is real, the trail/grid is printed out, I'm planning on doing a chase scene as I have two blue cycles already with red and yellow ones on the way
