Thanks to cindymancini I got to see this movie last night. I have never seen it before. It has Judd Nelson in it. I really liked it. I loved the soundtrack, does anyone have it?? I liked the song at the beginning, when he is getting out of the old car. When I saw him in the denim jacket, I thought "this is what happened to Bender from the Breakfast Club after he got through all those Saturdays in detention." I also loved the song that was playing when he arrived at Hoover Academy in his red and black outfit, and his giant boom box, when he was walking down the hall, and he was doing the whole head turning thing, and looking at people, that was a great song, it fit that scene perfect.

I know why Valley likes this movie, it is because the dude from WKRP in Cincinnati is in it, he's the head of the school.

I never knew Andrew Dice Clay was in this movie either. I always thought he was good looking in his face, but he had such hairy arms, they looked moldy, he could have definately used a good body waxing. Or, put a shirt on, don't go around in a tank top.

I love the breakdance scene in this movie too, of course it was so obvious it was not Judd Nelson. But, whomever did it ..really could dance. That was a cool scene.

Also... "Muffy".... she sure got around in the 80's.

Oh, another scene I liked was when the kid that was there to help him out, was giving him lessons on what was preppy and what wasn't. Like the clothes, with the layers of jackets, and pastel colors, and looking like you had your Dad's clothes on, that was so classic 80's.

I always loved watching those rich prep school type movies, and seeing that whole life style.

I am so glad the guy at the beginning-the real " Palmer"...that he was not in the rest of the movie, because he was totally annoying, which he was suppose to be, but his acting was pretty awful, and I was glad to see him take off for England or wherever he went to.

I got this one on our Vintage Video adventure.... so i'll try and watch it tonight!

I'd never even heard of it before........but you gotta love Judd Nelson.

Talking about Andrew Dice Clay made me think of one of my favs thats he's in......Casual Sex. Does anyone else love that movie like me?

I'll get back to you on Making the Grade! [Smile]

This movie is all about he names, Palmer Woodrow, Tracey Hoover, Muffy, Bif,& Skip. [Wink] Very cliquey fer sure, especially with someone in it named Muffy! [Big Grin]

This is way up on the hidden gems of the 80s for me. I remember seeing it on TBS late at night and laughing the whole way through it. I'm not a huge fan of "The Breakfast Club", so for me this is my favorite Judd Nelson movie. The Diceman the early years was a treat to watch to...Aaayy!

I loved "Dice" in this...

"Break his legs and get me a pizza!"

The Diceman can do a pretty good John Travolta imitation, too (nice usage of the theme from "Staying Alive").

O/T:

I liked "Casual Sex?", also. I have it on DVD (the Universal reissue)...In addition to a theatrical trailer, there are the TV scenes and an alternate ending.

Sincerely,

John Kilduff...The Rock Steady Flamethrower

Making the Grade is a great movie. I was it when it first came out in the theater many years ago. There was a sequel in the works (read the credits) but never came out.
