When Julie and her friends run into Tommy as they leave the mall (at the beginning of the movie) she says to her friends: "You all go ahead. I'll see you at the bus."

Now, I might be mistaken, but aren't these suppose to be a bunch of rich kids? What people of their social status would condescend to riding a bus?

Nevertheless, this is still one of my favorite movies.

wooooo, i love valley girl.
and that line is one of many i wonder about in the movie..

but you are right. why would they take a bus? hmm.

I agree that riding the bus seems a little odd, but remember none of the girls had their driver's license yet. Also, Suzi reminded Julie that "Tommy's gonna look really good after six GRODY bus rides". [Razz]

So Valley or not at least they kept the same premise throughout the movie. [Cool]

Maybe they spent all their money on clothes, that they didn't have any left over for gas.

I love that movie too...

Or maybe because it was the city, they wanted to do their part to cut down on air pollution.

Hardly anyone in New York City owns a car, maybe it's the same for the "Valley".

Skip rode a bike.

Randy actually was the only one who had a car.

I just bought the Valley Girl soundtrack on CD!!!!

Was the convertible even Randy's car? Did it actually belong to Fred's mother?

Devolution here,

Isis, that is mostly in Manhattan, but even such, just about anyone that has the money to live in Manhattan probably can afford a car. You wouldn't even want to know what one months rent is for a studio apt.

Devolution here,

Oh, I had bought the second CD a while back...

I really wanted "Eaten by the Monster of Love" by sparks.

OMG, this has bugged me since the movie first came out in theaters because the ad poster was the same way...I have never been able to figure out what the deal is. It's not like it's an actual photograph, it's a friggen rendering...so if, for some reason, Deborah Foreman was unavailable, couldn't they at LEAST find a picture of her face to draw from?

When I bought the dvd, I was hoping that the trivia track would tell us why, but it doesn't. Grrrrr...

True, they did have a driver's ed test, after all. And we all know that "nobody walks in L.A."

I agree with the last post. I don't think that any of the girls were old enough to drive. And god for bid they let their nerdy parents take them anywhere. Julie is supposed to be 15 in this film.

I actually read on this site that many people believe the model on the box is the actress who played Randy's ex. Their faces are incredibly similiar.

Samantha?? Geez, wouldn't that be something? I always loved her "I could care less" attitude in the movie. Cool scene in the bathroom [Wink]
