IS there any candy that you remember eating in the 80s that they might not have anymore?

I loves Hubba Bubba gum, I never see it anymoe! Is it still out there? I also loved sceret code gumand Big League Chew.

I used to eat Mars bars and Jr. Mints every time I was at the movies. I know you can still get Jr. mints but I'm not sure about the others.

Anyone else have a fav candy from the 80s?

I loved Bonkers! Can you still get them anywhere??

I don't know. I forgot about Bonkers! I used to like those too, along with velamints and sticklets.

www.groovycandies.com has all that stuff...

also just do a search for that candy and it will take you to sites that sell it, that's how I got all the candy for my son's b-day party, I got the candy necklaces, candy lipsticks, pop rocks, bottle caps and astro pops. I got wax fangs for the Halloween party.

I am so glad that you started this Ali, I knew we talked about it before, cause I have been trying to find Wacky Wafers... but I just remembered a candy...and that thread about the Friday night show-Small Wonder is what made me remember it...

does anyone else remember Tiny Tarts...they were in a little bag, and looked like gerbil food???.

oh for the party I had lemonheads, and grapeheads and tangy taffy too.

Does anyone else love Boston Baked Beans????

Does anyone remember the gum that was made to look like a big mac, in a little styrofoam container looking thing?

And the gum that looked like a waffle, that you poured this little packet of syrup on???

I remember a candy store near my house that no longer exixts, sold edible paper and edible styrofoam. I bet that sent the wrong message to children.

I also remember the hot dog shaped gum and cigars. My mom didn't want my sister and I to buy the cigar gum or the candy ciggarettes so we hid them from her.

As for Tiny Tarts, weren't those Willy Wonka cady? I used to love those when I was a kid!

If you go to stupid.com, they have great candy from today and from the past. It's very unique, but be warned that some of it looks really disgusting! [Eek!]

I remember this gum that came in pop flavors and was juice filled. They had cherry 7 up and Dr. Pepper as some of the flavors. It was soo good. Then ofcourse you have you 80's staples of pop rocks, bottlecaps, and candy jewelery! [Big Grin]

Does anyone remember this gum where the pieces weresoft and round and had liquid in the center? I used to love that gum. There was also a caramel chocolate bar that had these mounds but wasn't caramilk. Anyone know the names of these?

Oh thank you, thank you, thank you Jaymi!!!! What a beautiful site! I just love Huba Bubba nd can never find it around here anymore!

That site made my mouth water! [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

Ali, I only wish that they still made the original flavor, that was my favorite...

Posted by TresFoxy (Member # 542) on :

Riptide that was exactly the gun I was talking about!!! [Big Grin] Wasn't it the greatest!! if they brought that gum back I would practically buy the company out!!! LOL... Maybe the carmel candy was caremello but they still make that candy here in Michigan... [Confused]

My favorite was Pop Rocks. I know TARGET sometimes has hard-to-find candy. Theres a store called CANDY BARON in California that has hard to find candy, and I believe theres actually some websites that specialize in it. Once when I was in California I saw Marathon bars, remember those? I shouldve picked them up.

What about fake cigarette candy. Talk about sending the wrong message. I also remember those sticks that you used to stick in powdered colored sugar. Yummy! It is funny I still remember the awful taste of the bubble gum that was in with baseball cards too.

Posted by Ali_with_an_i (Member # 27) on :

Lick-a-Maid! They still sell that! That's the candy you dipped in the sour cool-aid powder stuff.

I used to buy candy cigarettes and bubble gum cigars. My parents didn't really approve. [Frown]

*I think I need to buy a dictionary for Xmas....for myself*

I still buy Freshen Up-it is my all time favorite gum...I get it at this big Candy Outlet place that has all the old stuff, and they have the candy cigarettes too, and the cigarette bubble gum, that you blow on them, and the powder comes out like smoke. Spearmint Freshen-up is my favorite gum. I would love to get the pop gum, those were awesome. (I love Dr. Pepper)

All I know is that when I was in Little League I looked just like my Hero George Brett when I put a big dip of BIG LEAGUE CHEW in my mouth. Of course he had chewing tobacco, but the guy behind the counter wouldnt sell me that.

Just type in Freshen UP under Yahoo search..I found a website there, cause I bought it over the internet..I'll try finding the exact site again..It wasn't the groovycandies.com but that one is excellent for everything else....You can call information for Altoona, PA for The Blair Candy Outlet, they have it there, it isn't expensive either, it might only be like $5, for box of it.

Ok..I checked it out...

You can get just about anything at

www.candydirect.com
Freshen Up is $14.30 a case ..which I think is high

The place I bought stuff before was:
www.oryans.com

Then I saw they said they had wacky wafers for a limited time at:
www.sweetnostalgia.com
Then I check it, and they said they were no longer made, so I didn't get it, but they had everything there, and you could buy everything individual. Freshen Up was in 4 flavors, and was .79 a pack.

Check it out!! Makes great Xmas presents!!

I don't have a fav flavor when it comes to gum. That stuff was so sweet I love it all! My email was down for a few days but I got it back up now. I can email you my address or you can email me. [Smile] I 've been having problems sending emails lately for some reason so I don't know if I can make it work. [Frown]

There was this one candy bar I remember eating, and I remember it 'cause it was like a "You've been good" thing, my parents never bought candy regularly, only on "Special" ocassions, well, it was called the "Big Bopper", it was like a 6 inch stick of peanut butter filling(like reeses filling) and was covered in chocolate, and I think it had also that crispy kind of stuff in it too, maybe someone else remembers it?, it came in a silver package, and the name was in neon type lettering, orange surrounded by I think hot pink [Confused]

I remember it was very yummy [Razz]

Chew a whole pack at one time and the bubble should blow out and cover your head...LOL [Big Grin]
