You can't go to the BTTF board and ask this so I thought I'd do it here.

Everyone pretty much loves part 1, but what's the consensus of parts 2 and 3 among average film goers? Someone brought up a good point that 2 was so disappointing that it drove people away from seeing 3.

Thoughts?

I can't say I rated BTTF 2 much on first viewing but I have to say on repeat viewing it's very clever and very enjoyable. I'd rate the flicks in order of their numbers. However, long before the DVD revolution etc. I went to a BTTF triple-bill in London's West-End and if you haven't already watched them back-to-back then I heartily recommend it as you really get to appreciate the in-jokes, the repeats of scenes etc.

From the looks of things I stand alone on this,But...I think BTTF 2 is the best. I just love the complexity of the story, from the future to the alternate present and how pretty much everything goes bad for Marty & Doc leading up to the events in BTTF 3. A great film in a great trilogy.

I have to agree with you, the BTTF 1 was the best, the second was the second best and the third, well the third just was not very good. It is hard to improve upon the perfection that was created with the first one.

Have to agree about BTTF 2-the whole complexity of the story is really cool and it also has the best ending of the three with the letter! I love that part! [Smile]

I agree that the last half hour or so of BTTF was pretty damn good, but overall the original can't be touched!

I have to say that all three BTTF movies are great. I enjoy them all. All three have something special. If I had to choose, then of course the first movie was the best. I am just glad that Hollywood hasn't decided to make a BTTF 4 with some new kid actor as Marty. Michael J. Fox was, is, and will forever be Marty McFly. ok, I guess Eric Stoltz was at one time, but he doesn't count. [Big Grin]

o yea, I heard the director thought he wasn't enough of a comical relief for the part! As much as I love Eric Stoltz, this decision was most certainly the correct one.

Cool reactions, guys.

Agreed that the last half hour or so of BTTF 2 is some of the most inventive stuff I've seen in a movie.

With time BTTF 2 has crept up as a favourite of mine. At first you kind of felt cheated with the alternate view of the first movie, but the gags are great. As for BBTF 3 i will have to watch it again, but I didn't like it as much, maybe if Marty bumped into Bill and Ted during his travels, now we are talking!

Honestly, I think number 2 is the least of my favorites. Also, I think it's quite funny that they never play part 2 on tv...it's almost always part 3, and occasionally part 1.
