Does anyone remember the very first time that you saw the Goonies. I was eleven years old. I went with my friend Kristen and her brother in the back of her grandmothers' station wagon on a very hot summer day. In my town at the time we had this old movie theater like the ones they used to have that only had one screen. It was the last movie that I saw on that screen and it was so awesome. Do you remember the scene that surrounded your first viewing of this classic?

This is a really nice topic! [Smile]
Yeah, I remember...
It was the very first movie I ever went to see without my parents.
I was 11, and my English teacher in Tokyo took us (about 7 or 8 of us) to watch it, and I loved every single minute of it! It's a really special movie to me.

My dad took me and my older sister to see it. We rode in my mother's limited edition Pontiac Sky Bird with the T-tops out. After the movie we were so excited and wanted to see it again. All our friends were jealous that we got to see it before any of them.

I also rememebr going to the mall the week it came out and seeing movie posters that was advertising the soundtrack. I wish I would have grabbed one of those posters.

I got the recommendation from my oldest son, He apparently had just watched the film over a friends house and asked if we could rent it. So we did, and I though it was hysterical. We continued to rent it at least twice a month for almost a year, until I finally broke down and bought for them. NOw, I dont know how long its been since I have seen that movie, maybe I should get it to watch for old times sake.. [Smile]

It almost seems like yesterday when i saw it in the theatre. Absolutely loved it. I was 12, what a year 1985 was for me. I remeber hearing about it, because I loved reading about Pirate Legends like Captain Kidd and Blackbeard, so the fact that there was apirate ship theme was very cool. I bought it on DVD not too long ago. Love it.

Devolution here,

In the movies, I was 10 with my brother and family, we loved it and for a long time only had a bad VHS version of the movie. It's a great movie, too bad that they don't make them like that anymore. We'll I guess they do, but the kids aren't funny anymore.

We are DEVO

It would be so awesome if they re-release it into theaters for it's 20th anniversary. I'd love to go see it again on the big screen!

That movie has such a loyal cult following, I'm sure they'd make allota cash if they release it again. We should start a petition or something. Oh well, it's just an idea..... [Cool]

I was 10 spending a weekend at the cabin with my family. We went in to Lake Tahoe and watched it at the local theater. After we got home me and my brother proceeded to fill our backyard with boodie traps.

I have so many good memories of this movie. I remember the first time seeing it was on TV on a summer afternoon. I can still picture the living room of the house I lived in. Off topic, but I am also reminded of renting Neverending Story for the first time because a friend and I hung out all day and I ended up killing his goldfish during a pillow fight that same day [Frown]

A local cinema played the Goonies recently and only a handful of people showed up. I was disgusted. I went both nights!

How well did hey advertise this? When a local theatre in my neck of the woods played Goonies it sold out in minutes. They added extra shows cuz the demand was so high.

The best part was seeing people in their 20s and 30s reciting Mikey's "It's our time, our time down here" speech.

I think it would be great if they rereleased the film with a few extra scenes and I'm sure allot of people would go. I would! [Big Grin]

So lucky to have a showing of Goonies. I would have loved to see it again in a theatre since 1985. I think even the popcorn tasted better then.
