Have you seen the commercials for Swiffer? They use the Whip it song, and every time I see it, I think, you probably throw up ever time they wreck Devo's music. I hate those commercials.

there are several commercials today that are using 80s songs. the one i cannot stand is the baby one, with some lady singing acapella (sp) for 'walking on the sunshine.'
i think -DEVO- when i see the swiffer one, hehe.

I hate it as well. Ive gotta laugh because when I first heard the Swiffer one Devolution was the first person that came to mind. I could picture him wretching at the sound of the commercial. But in all honesty, the artists have control of their music and how it is used.There are exceptions of course such as The Beatles music those rights are controlled by Michael Jackson and Sony Music.

I try to stay away from really bad commercials, otherwise I might just go crazy. There have been many of them over the course of time. I sometimes cringe, sometimes I consider throwing my TV out the window.

I share contempt for this as well. Not only do they use classic songs we love... but they have started in on indie, obscure bands.
The last couple of months I was in my apartment I didn't have basic cable. So we went without tv. I moved back to my moms and started watching again and I realized how annoying it is. I can't even laugh at funny commercials anymore... they just don't seem funny to me. Everytime I see a commercial I imagine a group of people saying, "okay, how can we sell this product? We can make the kid wake his parents up early in the morning, because people can relate to that.." It's kind of sickening. I can't help but feel manipulated. I only turn on the tv for movies, Food Net., and sometimes Animal Planet.

I totally agree about commercials..they are so stupid, I can not go them at all. I am with you nothinlikebefore, I only ever watch HGTV, The Food Channel, and I like Animal Planet, and sometimes the Travel Channel. I do sometimes like the Style Channel-I love the new show-Clean House. On the Food Channel-I love Unwrapped. That's about it too.

I love Unwrapped. It is really interesting to see how all these foods are made. I was just watching it the other night and they were doing bubble gum. Man... did I have a craving for bubble gum ice cream. I went to Baskin Robins and they were clean out. Just my luck. That's the only downside to the Food Net... cravings.
