I used to watch MONSTERVISION hosted by Joe Bob Briggs. He would play cheesy horror movies and sit and drink cheap beer and give commentary. I always loved this show but its not on anymore. does anyone know what he's doing these days??

Actually his real name is John Bloom. He even when he first started had a role in Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. I think you would have to watch the DVD as he credit shows he was in it by deleted scenes.

The most recent stuff of is The Many lives of Jason Voorhees (2002)that was on the Jason X DVD. About the whole Jason film series.

In the 2001 Documentary Drive in Movie Memories he is listed as starring himself. Below is the link with the rest of his credits and bio. Hope this helps with what you want.

Not sure what he's up to anymore, but he's excellent at answering emails at his site. Talked to him a couple times as he's great with fans. Look him up on yahoo or somewhere, he has a compuserve email address.

I started watching Joe Bob when he was on The Movie Channel in the late 80s. Became a big fan, got his one appearance on The Tonight Show from 1990 when Leno was guest hosting.

I hadn't seen drive in theater in a couple years, chose to watch for nostalgia one night, to find out The Movie Channel was firing him! He did four more shows and left in 1996. Taped his final goodbyes....only to have him pop up on Monstervision a few months later.

Joe Bob Briggs, is the alter-ego name of John Bloom. He started out as a legitimate "regular" movie critic for a now-defunct newspaper in Dallas, TX. But in 1982, John created his Joe Bob Briggs character who did reviews of cheapie drive-in B-movies at the same time.

He was fired from the newspaper after he recorded a parody of the "We Are The World" song. His version was called "We Are The Weird". His bosses didn't like him making fun out of starving African kids, I guess.

He went on his own as the Joe Bob Briggs character, and wrote articles for various magazines and his own syndicated movie reviews nationwide. He even hit the lecture circuit, and appeared in some movies and TV shows.

I haven't seen or heard from him in quite a while, but you can find out more through his website:

Hope this helps!
