Devolution here,

Serious question: Is soundtrack based on the film or the music on the album?

If it's the film, Sixteen Candles, no contest.

Songs on the album?

Hmmmm, Some kind of wonderful, or Vision Quest, or maybe even FM, even though that isn't an 80's movie.

Devo, agree with SKOW, but I'd have to place Streets Of Fire ahead of Sixteen Candles - not by much, but definately a superior score.

not much in the way of score music, but the soundtrack to Adventures In Babysitting is excellent

devo, you read my mind. i thought of last american virgin right after i posted. i have been trying to get my hands on it for the tommy tutone song, "teen angel eyes."

agree with a few that have been posted already, but how could you leave off "Heavy Metal" or "Fast Times at Ridgemont High"

Been a long time since I've seen "Last American Virgin" refresh my memory on what songs are on the soundtrack.

have to admit The Breakfast Club has really great music

Well, Purple Rain is a given, being a Prince [Smile] fan. After that, I pretty much liked every 80s soundtrack I bought.

Flashdance
Footloose
Beverly Hills Cop 1 & 2
Krush Groove
Dirty Dancing
School Daze
Who's That Girl
Salsa
La Bamba

Blade runner has a pucka sound track and one of the best soundtracks comes from Fire walk with me (twin peaks secret diarys of laura palmer).

Sorry, just had to check the thread title again - thought it said WORST soundtrack cos do my eyes deceive me, or did someone mention Ladyhawke?

Perfect example of a greaty movie being spoiled by the trashiest, most inappropriate soundtrack ever. Hmm, movie about medieval french swordplay and romance - I know, lets hit it with a seventies pasticshe MOR synth-heavy soundtrack!

Genius - NOT!

Devolution here,

Hey paul, I think you have been hanging out with me too much. Oh yeah, I totally agree that LadyHawke blows. Movie, soundtrack, the sword going through seven things at the end? It all adds up to bad. Someone mentioned Rad, good choice. I also like the music in Morgan Stewarts coming home. But that is me, and I am not normal.

I would have to say some of my favorite songs come from:

Footloose
Night of the Comet
Valley Girl
Two of a Kind
Dirty Dancing
The Legend of Billie Jean
Fire with Fire

I really wish that a Night of the Comet CD was available, it has a lot of good songs on it.

I have it on CD, transferred it from my LP and it sounds excellent, just a shame I found out afterwards I don't much care for the songs themselves [Big Grin]
