Hello everybody. I know that only a real 80s-greatie could help me out with this one! I have been wondering this for about two years since I first saw ALL of Pretty in Pink. _________________________________________________
In the scene where Blane is paying for the album, Andie says, "Would that be cash or charge, American Express Platinum Card maybe?" But she looks disappointed when he chooses cash. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Why is this? Why do you think that Andie wants him to pay with a credit card? Well somebody help! I might be missing the joke or something.

Hey..
Seeing as Pretty in Pink is my favorite movie of all time, I hope I get this right!
I assumed that when Andie said that to Blane, she was making a snide comment about him being a "richie".. like if he had paid with a credit card, it would have proved to her that he was stuck-up or something.. but the fact that he payed cash made him more like her.. when she was trying to act like he was a rich jerk.
I might be totally off base.. but that's what I got out of it.
Anyone else?

Yeah, Andie really didn't like him at the beginning - Blaine kinda broke most of her images of rich kids as the movie progressed.
I still wanted her to end up with the Duckman at the end, though...

Good point, but nice guys always finish last! The Duckman won me over after the Otis Redding performance in the record store...my fav scene in the movie!

I also woulda liekd to see her with Ducky. In case you dont know:that was the original ending and is the ending in the book. She curses Blaine out and dances the night away with Ducky. They should release an alternate ending dvd with Ducky winnin!
