I'm not sure of the name and who sings it, but in the movie "say anything" when he holds up the boom box after she breaks up with him and he has been standing in the rain he goes to her house and plays thier song "In Your Eyes" you really feel for the guy. [Cool]

St. Elmo's Fire love theme, mmmmm hmmmmm.

Just Once from Last American Virgin.

But if we're talking touching music from like a score, definitely the K Kid.

Not individual songs, but for a really emotionally moving background music, try John Barry's score for "Somewhere In Time" (1980).

I remember one documentary where John Barry received the most complimentary letters for that one compared to the many others that he's done over his long career that started out in the 50's!

Reform_School_Girl...good choices of music, I love "This used to be my playground"...that's a great song...that was one of the songs that we had playing during our senior slide show at the end of the year...definitely a tear jerker.

I also think that the song "Stand by me" is another tear jerker. I love the movie too...and everytime i hear that song i think of the movie and river phoenix...it's a shame that he died at such a young age.

Devolution here,
Reform School Girl---- "Send me an angel" by Pet Shop Boys --- Are you refering to the song by Real Life? From RAD?

Or is there another Send me an angel?

I know I'm new, but somebody's got to tell SHEGOTGAME that Stand By Me is a song from the 50!

Please try to stick to the proper decade. Thank you.

Reform_School_Girl, i am very impressed with your knowledge of 80's metal music. I too am a former headbanger...all business in the front, party in the back...but please, when referring to movie songs, pick songs that were actually in the movies. Picking Stand By Me is equivalent to me picking Twist and Shout from Ferris Bueller, Back to School, and about 700 other 80's movies.

NOW that that's out of the way...How come none of you mentioned "Danger Zone" in Top Gun or even for you ReformSG, a tearjerker in "Take My Breath Away". You see, the key to these songs is that they were made at the time of the movie, not 30 years beforehand. Oh, and before i forget, "Burning Heart" from Rocky IV rocks!

Devolution here,
In the fine tradition of Thunderlips, I give you for a tear jerker,

Meet me halfway - by Kenny Loggins

Man this is too easy

I would chose "Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want" by The Smiths, which was on the Pretty In Pink soundtrack but also the remake of this song by Dream Academy, which is the instrumental song that is played during the museum scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Hey everyone,
i have to agree w/ thunderlips on the Stand By Me issue to a point. Although, that song was re-released in 1986 after the movie came out. It topped the charts and hit #1 that year! First time ever in history for a song from 30 years prior to achieve this. In 1986 it was obviously a big part of pop-culture. So, u see, it cud go either way! [Confused] tootles! Keep up w/ the great songs!
