Well now, big hugs and high fives to all who have taken a peep into this thread as I know you are a fan of my favorite 80's film, Just one of the guys, and if you're not, well, i'll tie you down to a chair and make you watch it until you are [Smile]

In any case, This is probably the one 80's film
that I know line for line. Yes, it's a gender switching comedy off the heels of tootsie, but as it is translated to the high school set, I believe it had all the more relevance.

I mean who else can't relate to terry's dillema as she feel and is not appreciated for her true gifts because of her outward appearance.

Wether we happen to look like a model (Joyce hyser was just that) Or someone who is likened to the paper on the wall, there is always the yearning to be appreciated for who we really are.

The film also playfully nods to the screwball comedies of the past. It is filled with fast & funny dialogue which reminded me of the howard hawks & preston sturges film.

Trivia:

The name of the school is sturges-wilder

which of course is a nod to preston sturges and billy wilder, who directed some like it hot.

There are a few things like that in the film, I won't point them all out since I wan't some of ya to try and find them!

The relationship between Terry and her brother buddy is definetly one of the funniest between 2 siblings on screen.

CLayton rohner as the hapless nerd (who's probably cooler than most) who is into james brown. How very.

And of course Sherilyn fenn. She gets to feed some fish pizza half naked.

This film definetly needs a dvd release, in it's proper aspect ratio with hopefully a 5.1 mix because it was a pretty decent soundtrack.

Anyone else love this film?

I totally love this movie too!...and I've been waiting and hoping that it's going to be released on dvd soon. I don't have the movie on video, mainly because i'm hoping it's going to come out on dvd soon. But i'm thinking that i might just buy the video anyways because it's not on tv as often as i want it to be. The storyline to this movie is awesome...but then again, just about all the 80's high school movies are great!

I love this friggin' movie! I've been waiting forever for the DVD to be released...hope it does soon with some extras! I've got it on tape so that'll have to do for now (found it used for 5 bucks). One thing, I don't know about you guys, but the song at the end is pretty dang good...great end song to a great movie.

Actually, I don't think it was a sequel, it's also not 80's, it came out in '92, it was cheesy though [Big Grin] , and kinda funny too [Razz] , but it has nothing on "Just one of The Guys" [Wink]

I think Alanis Morrisette had a decent cameo in the movie though. [Smile]

I can't even count how many times I've seen this movie.

I had a lousy dub of it on Beta and VHS. DVD is of course the next logical step.

It's one of those movies that whenever it comes on, I always end up watching it. Edited, commercials, doesn't matter.

Actually I just saw it again recently, when stopping in Chicago for the night...anyway, yeah, good stuff.

I live in the Phoenix area in Arizona where the movie was made. I remember when it was being filmed and there was alot of hopla at the time.

This is one of my favorite 80's films. Actually today I was racking my brain trying to think of the name and finally found it here.
