Anyone really love this movie besides me?..I loved the feeling some of it was meant to give like youre watching an old 1950s' murder feature..and then it kinda goes right back to modern movie. Nobody cared about this one, I saw it once years ago on one of these tv movie networks, what I really wish I could find is who did the original music. Its not classical garbage its guitar and metal jazz kinda stuff.

ummm...Dennis Quaid. YUM!
Loved this movie when it came out! I've seen it a bunch of times. Couldn't help you with the music but...remember when he unglues his hand from Meg Ryan's arm? Ouch, always had to look away when he did that.

"D.O.A." (1988) with Dennis Quaid is a remake of a 1950 movie with the same title. The filmmakers wanted to pay tribute to the original as much as they could.

The 1988 version had Chaz Jankel doing the music. Chaz was the keyboardist of Ian Dury & The Blockheads during the late 70's and early 80's. He also did a few movie scores during the 80's, including "Killing Dad" and "Earth Girls Are Easy".

Chaz has his own website nowadays:

Hope this helps you!

Just watched D.O.A.
It was a decent thriller but not really that special.

I liked Dennis Quaid a lot though.
Somehow he looked very much like Jack Nicholson in some scenes.

I must also admit that the soundtrack was quite interesting.

Meg Ryan in her "Freudian Slip?" Who could forget that? Good flick.

Good movie. I worked in a video store in high school (BEST JOB EVER AWARD!) and I remember this being very popular. One of those that maybe didn't do great at the box office, but made it up in home video bucks.

As a purist in the sense of art and entertainment for its own sake I know I shouldn't care about box office, but I do...as Gus Grissom (Fred Ward) said in The Right Stuff..."No Bucks...No Buck Rogers!" and these types of movies need to be supported so they will keep making them. They have all but disappeared, but I remember stuff like D.O.A & The Presidio & Shakedown & the list goes on and on...but i digress.

I remember D.O.A. well and have always like Dennis Quaids work. A good solid "working" actor to be sure. Like in this one, he was always pretty believeable in whatever role he found himself in...a good one here!

I loved D.O.A. ,although I think that most of my friends have never even heard of this movie! Here's hoping they show it again soon on one of the movie channels.

I always liked it. Quaid/Ryan met on 'Innerspace' and started dating, then they made this. That was back when Quaid was going to be the next big thing, but it turned out Ryan became the star. Now Ryan's star has fallen somewhat, and Quaid's has risen again!

If you watch the film carefully, you'll notice that the colour drains out of the picture as the movie progresses. By the end it's almost black and white.

This film wasn't the first remake of the original. The first was an American-Australian co-production called Color Me Dead (1969: vt D.O.A. 2) with essentially the same storyline that starred Tom Tryon, Carolyn Jones, Rick Jason, Patricia Connolly and Tony Ward.
