I decided to post this because I believe that Karate Kid Part III is an underated masterpiece. I know many will NOT agree with me, but that's just my opinion. I love the story in that movie. I love how Daniel must learn who he is. He goes through many mixed emotions. He must decide between good and evil. The story has meaning to it. Part I is still my favorite, but Part III is definately not far behind! In my opinion it was better than Part II.

I agree with 80's girl. I think KK 3 is better than KK 2. And of course, part 1 is the best of the trilogy.

it's rare that anyone would disagree part 1 is the best ...anyone?

no doubt.. I've always thought of KK3 as being better than KK2. But, I think for different reasons than the rest of you, maybe?!

I'm 21 now, and I think it was back in the late 80's that Granada TV here in the UK, started advertising KK1.. I remember staying up all night to watch it and my parents also recorded it for me. This was in the times, where terrestrial television didn't have censors to the degree that they have them now.. The film was shown in its entirety. It must have been 18 months later, when I saw a trailer for KK3. I was livid.. So I went to the cinema and saw that.. then it wasn't 'til much later, that I watched KK2.. so, thats the order I saw them. I've always thought that whilst KK2 has some great character development between Miyagi & Daniel, it doesn't follow on from KK1 as well as KK3 does.. thats just my opinion.

Brown,
Yes you are right. KK3 does follow KK1 better than KK2. [Big Grin]

Sorry everyone i think KK2 was better than KK3. You got to see the more about Miyagi and his family and also the close bond between him and Daniel. I think they were right aswell for doing KK2 before KK3 cos as KK1 finished and everyone loved it, it would of made sense to know more about one of the popular and mystery charcters in Mr Miyagi. Also in KK3 Miyagi and Daniel fall out and you can see Miyagi gets emotional and how much it hurt him with him getting closer to Daniel in KK2.

It's right KK3 follows on more from KK1 and like brown says KK2 shows great character development but i just think they were right to do that as like i said in my othere post people were going crazy about the first film and in most films in sequals you allways find more about the main characters or they allways have something big about there past. To show KK3 right after number 1 you would be like: hold a min Daniel a kid from New jersey moves to the California gets bullied meets Karate master Miyagi who is from somewere by Japan. Miyagi teachers Daniel Karate, Daniel defies the odds and beats the bully boys. Now in the second film which off course now would be KK3 you would think Terry and Kreese out for revenge which you would expect, Barnes the new hard kid seen that all before in 1st film, Daniel scared of barnes but defies the odds again and beats him seen that before in 1st film, lets look and how Daniel and Miyagi bond oh yeah through the bonzai trees. So in my opition it made sense to do KK2 bfore KK3 no matter if the story line follows, character development is more importment.

I too feel The Karate Kid III is a masterpiece. I love every part of that movie, especially Miyagi's fight scenes. Call me a wuss, but everytime I see the ending to that movie it brings tears to my eyes.

I have been banging on about this for ages. KK3 is THE best movie in the series. It has everything Daniel has to wrestle with so many dilemmas, Miyagi and Terry Silver treachery. It has more action, great dialogue and a Glen Medeiros cameo. The film is also the fastest paced of the lot.

I hate to be the sour note here....

But I thought KK3 was GOD AWFUL. It was an embarrasment of a movie. KK3 had far too many unintentionally hilarious moments. Terry Silver looked stupid with that pony-tail even back in 1989. Neither Mr. Miyagi or Daniel acted or looked like themselves.

The movie also had me hating Daniel for being such a whiner and so damn annoying. Whereas in the first two films, you cheer for Daniel.

Just my thoughts.

KK3 had so many holes in the plot you could drive a truck through it. just a couple examples.

1. after the bonzai trees got stolen how did Daniel know Barnes' name to report him to the cops?

2. If Mr Silver was on Daniels side like he was supposed to be pretending how did he know Barnes' name let alone to find Barnes' picture in a karate magazine to show Daniel and say "Last time you weren't fighting him."?

The inconsistencies are rampant through this movie, yet I find myself watching it everytime it's on TV. But, KK1 is a far better movie then the others by far.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the more recent posters. I'm not a fan of KK3. Nope...not one bit. In my own little world, KK3, and <shudder> KK4 don't exist. They never happened.

I was just wondering if anybody enjoyed karate kid 2. It ws rather emotional, but I doubt that we Americans could fall in love with it. I didn't like it too much.

Somebody also mentioned the order they watched the trilogy; the makers of Karate Kid messed up with the order and should have made Kid 3 folow KK1 and for kk2 to be the last one. It would make sense for Daniel to use his stuff in a tournament two times, and then finaly yo use it in real life. Here, we have the tournament in KK3 overriding the real life fight in KK2.
