I remember Ronnie mentioning an ALF movie to me awhile back as a possibility. I only caught a few episodes of the "ALF" tv series in the 80's though, but remember liking it.
Anyway .. get this..
Sony Pictures Animation has closed a deal to acquire rights to the classic 1980s sitcom ALF and will develop the property into a hybrid CG/live action feature.
Jordan Kerner, who produced SPA’s adaptation of 1980s Saturday morning cartoon staple The Smurfs and helped turn it into a hybrid blockbuster franchise, will produce the project with show creators Tom Patchett, a veteran of 1970s comedies, and puppeteer Paul Fusco.
ALF stood for 'alien life form', and the '80s sitcom centered on a furry alien creature who crash landed on Earth and took up with the Tanners, a suburban family. ALF, whose name was later revealed as Gordon Shumway, is sarcastic and has an appetite for cats. He courts trouble with government forces that are on his tail. The show aired 102 episode from 1986-90.
Fusco voiced the title character on the show and is expected reprise his role for the movie.
Does anyone else remember clips getting leaked of Fusco cussing up a storm on the set as ALF? It just sounds so familiar to me.

I catch episodes of ALF on the Hub channel.. it's on late at times. I recently caught the episode where ALF is home alone reenacting the scene in Risky Business where Cruise dances with the long sleeve. It was hilarious..

Loved it a lot as a child, and it still holds up pretty well today (it was also a nice moment when Bob Barker gave it plug before the day's Showcases one time in honor of them plugging him in one episode--apparently the Ochmoneks named their dog after him). If I had to pick a favorite, it would be the one where Alf takes the Ferrari for a joyride all over the freeways (on a night where every Motel 6 in L.A. seems to be hosting a beekeepers' convention).
I might like a film as long as they do it smart. Certainly having Fusco and Patchett on board would be a plus, as long as they're allowed strong input. At least partial CGI should alleviate some of the earlier limitations of just having a puppet--but at the same time, don't drop the puppet, for, as Yoda has proved over the years, having something physically there makes it all the more real.

CGI will ruin it. They should go with animatronics/make-up. The good ol' Jim Henson's style. And nowadays this methods will be even better.

ALF was immensely popular here in Holland back then. I believe that the dvd-boxes of the original series are also popular among people who grew up in the 80's.
I always felt sorry for Lucky the cat though.
To be honest, i also don't feel the need to see a CGI generated ALF. Better stick with them dvd-boxes !

I can remember as a child(especially in the summer)coming in the house early so i could watch Alf.. Ahhh the 80s lol
