I was just watching an old He Man cartoon when I realized that of all the cartoons that I watched with the toys I collected that the He Man set was probably the most durable and to this day many of the ones that I had probably function well. I think it was just few pieces and heavy plastic. I can rattle off plenty of toys that were NOT made for kids, transformers being the easiest, I don't know of anyone that didn't have broken transformers.
That being said the cartoons of He Man was totally inferior to the Transformers without question.

The Castle Greyskull set was fantastic, as were the action figures! I remember there was a Skeletor that had a rotating piece in the chest so when he got into a battle with He Man, you could slide the piece from a smooth side to what looked like a dent! My cousin had it & I loved playing with it. It was a nice departure from the My Little Pony stable at my house.
Unfortunately, can't comment on the comparison between the He Man cartoon & Transformers cause I never watched Transformers, ever.

He-Man toys were really durable. The show was aimed at younger kids, so it made sense that the toys were sturdy. Still not a patch on TF's though, and like you say, Transformers was a much better cartoon.
However, I still love the theme tunes to She-Ra and He-Man!

i almost had all of them except merman. merman is one of my favorite characters. mossman too.

One of my friends once had some kind of special variation BattleCat, although since I was 4 at the time I don't recall specifics (apparently in the line's early development stages, ALL the characters were to have BattleCats before it was cut back to just He-Man himself--which you would think would make his identity VERY easy to figure out for everyone else given there doesn't seem to be any other green tigers on Eternia). Having seen the revival, I can say it was a good one that could have gone longer (they were planning to, but it fell through).

Great toy line, I had to choose which ones I wanted to collect He-Man or Transformers, I opted for Masters of the Universe.
What kind of scenarios would you make up? I wouldn't always follow the cartoon storyline and go off into different directions, I remember the fact that the He-Man and Prince Adam figures were two separate toys spun the narrative all over the place!
Some of the best villians were Modulock, Too Bad, Webster whilst the best of the heroes were He-Man (original) and Buzz Off.

For some reason, I never collected the toys nor watched the cartoons for either. What year did the first He-man figures come out? My friend's brother collected them and I remember enjoying checking them out, but something tells me I may have just reached that age where playing with toys was not cool...the age where I kinda wanted to still play with toys, but most kids my age had stopped. And Transformers were so big in the 80's, and I was an avid cartoon watcher as a kid.....weird. That all being said, I lived and breathed Star Wars and G I Joe!
