Are there any actors or actresses that you just absolutely don't like and turn you off from watching a movie or tv show? I think this topic may have been brought up before, but I was just thinking about it again. My friend's husband despises Judith Light, LOL! So when we went over to their house for dinner one night, I took over a nice bottle of white zinfadel with a picture of Judith Light that I glued over the label (I had printed it up from some fanatic's Judith Light tribute website!). It was one of those "posed sexy shots" of her. We laughed so hard after he took one look at the bottle of Judith Light wine, it's a wonder we got through dinner!
One actress who irks me is Demi Moore. I don't know if it's her voice, her not so great acting, or the fact that she's trying to stay 25 by marrying someone closer to her daughters' ages, I just can't put my finger on it. I love St. Elmo's Fire, but I am not thrilled by the fact that she is in almost every scene.
So what actor or actress irks you or drives ya nuts like scraping chalk down a chalkboard? [Big Grin]

Matt Damon. The weird thing is I like some of the movies he was in, just wish they had someone else playin his part. Not sure what it is about him but he annoys the h**l outta me !

Rob Schneider above all others; in a generation of traitors to the basic American comedic principles, he's the biggest one, although Will Ferrell when not playing Mustafa, David Spade when not lined up against Farley, and increasingly Tim Allen are coming close to the top. I don't include the loathable Tom Green as a traitor; since he isn't remotely funny to begin with, he doesn't deserve to be classified as a comedian in the first place. Of the young narcissic generation, the talentless Hillary Duff, the tasteless Lindsay Lohan, and the shamelessly overhyped Tom Welling, who seems to have only an Angry Young Man setting in every single project he takes on, would lead the list, as would in the younger catagory the similar hostile Spencer Breslin (again, think how lucky we had it back then; the BP had talent and class, as did all the child stars of the day). Still, there's always hope for the future no matter how bleak things may look...

Holy crap, you guys really got the ball rollin' onthis one! And most of the actors/actresses or rappers mentions, I have to agree with ya, I can't stand them either, lol. Now I've gotta come up with some more!

Does Ray Romano count as an actor? I really love "Everybody loves Raymond", but I hate him. Everyone else on the show is perfect.

And I have some weird inexplicable dislike of Jason Robards. He's done nothing to me, but I always find he gives me the creeps, even when he was an old man.

I forgot about Spencer Breslin. Wow- he gets a lot of work, doesnt he? And he isnt cute and cant act! Is he related to a bigwig or something?!

I would have mentioned some of those rappers-turned-actors, pop singers-turned-actors, reality stars-turned-actors, and 15 minutes of famers-turned-actors, but I never counted them as actors in the first place. As much as I'm not a fan of Julia Roberts, I'd just assume watch 20 of her films than have to sit through 1 Paris Hilton abomination.

Oh come on.... The Hottie And The Nottie is a modern day classic!

On a side note, in what alternate ****ing universe is Christine Lakin the Nottie and Paris Hilton the Hottie???? They had to smear so much ugly prostehtic make up on Lakin, just to be able to pass that one by! She was hella hot in Step By Step (the later years) and still is. Paris Hilton looks like ****ing Daffy Duck with beak shot off!

Oh yeah, how could I forget Juliette Lewis, hated by both me and the hubby. I always thought she acted mentally challenged at all times.

I can't stand "Rosie O'Donnell"...

I don't see the appeal of these guys....

Paris Hilton
Christina Aguilera
K-Fed
Jessica Simpson
Sean puffy p diddy Combs
Eminem
Kid Rock

Oh damn.... jdoc, I totally forgot about Rosie.... she would probably top my hate list just as a human being, not only an actress!

Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :

I thought I'd bump this thread up, too, since we have a current thread about actors that you DO like, for no apparent reason. Anyone want to add to this list of actors you DON'T like?! I liked one in mamamia's list: everyone in the cast of Friends! I think David Schwimmer is the worst!

Brendan Frazier, johnny depp. Depp has ruined his rep with some real stinkers so I don't go c his stuff anymore. Same with Frazier.

I just watched the trailer for Kevin Smith's newest disaster, Yoga Hosers, where good pal Johnny Depp reprises his idiotic mumbling Quebecois detective from Tusk. I also see that Smith has cast his and Depp's daughter as the leads, and both mothers are also in the film. Smith needs to stop and go away. Forever. The once marvellous writer of hilariously vulgar screenplays like Clerks and Dogma is now a pathetic shadow of himself, cranking out stupid vanity film projects filled with inside, mystifyingly unfunny jokes. He's not a stupid fellow, but I can't understand why he doesn't realize that he is just crapping on his own filmmaking legacy. I guess your reality gets distorted when money is no object in buying the best weed. I've noticed a bizarre paradox about his career. His early films, which are well written, are, by Smith's own admission, poorly directed. It seems that over the years, as he's gotten better as a director, he's gotten much worse as a writer. How does this happen? Weed makes you direct better, but you can't write a joke to save your soul? [Smile]

Pretty much anyone with the surname BALDWIN....

Posted by Crash (Member # 7484) on :

Julianne Moore. I know that she's won an Oscar and has a bunch of nominations, but I still don't think that she's a very good actress.

Hahaaaa! Paul. You are so right about the Baldwins. There is one exception for me though. The one that hosts SNL AT TIMES IS actually pretty funny.

I like Daniel but not fussed on the others.

Being from the otherside of the Atlantic Terd I've never seen much of SNL and I never actually knew that Alec Baldwin hosted it and for as many times as what he did. From what I've read it seems like most people seemed to like him on it and I've got to say that I think out of all the Baldwin's that Alec is probably my favourite of the bunch as well!

I'm trying to think of an actor or actress that I don't really like but I can't think of one,I think my trouble is I'm not fuzzy enough as surely there has got to be someone out there I don't like!

Yes, not the greatest actress. I always remember her as "the naked girl" because she likes to get naked in a lot of her films. The only role I liked of hers was in The Shipping News.
As far as Kevin Smith, I feel as though he just does not care whether he puts out quality films anymore. He has his podcast, and his tv show Comic Book Men, which keeps all of his friends employed. Now his daughter is getting older, and I imagine thinks she should be an actress. She strikes me as having the IQ of a doorknob. He knows his fans are going to go see or rent anything with his name on it.

Yeah, Julianne Moore is all "look at me naked, I'm so fearless." To be fair, she was good as a crazy, pill-addicted actress in the Cronenberg's Map to the Stars. Then again, she did have a hilarious scene on the toilet, yelling at her assistant that all the painkillers had constipated her and that she was likely going to need an enema. Look at me...Fearless. LOL

Kevin Smith always casts his horsey-faced wife in parts too. I don't think that he has another good film in him. He's just a walking joke, soon to be the answer to a trivia question.

I have a sort of like/hate thing with Vince Vaughn. Early in his career, it seemed like he would go on to a great career. But lately, he has starred in a slew of really bad movies. I thought of him because he had a small part in Into the Wild, which I watched this past weekend.I don't know if he is trying for a career in comedy or drama. He seems to do better at drama. It's as if he is trying way too hard with comedic roles.

I don't think there is anyone I dislike, to be honest.

I thought he was great in the second Jurassic Park movie, and Dodgeball. [Smile]
