I've been spared a lot of bad luck at the cinema. Once when I took my sister to see Mousehunt, the power went out about 30 minutes into the film. We were all given free passes to come see it again, but I wasn't really invested in it, and to this day I haven't seen the film.
The worst experience tho for me, is when I watched "The World is not enough". There was this kid in the audience that had a laser pointer, and not only was he pointing it at the screen (and kindly highlighting where the ladies nipples were under their dresses....) he was pointing it in people's eyes. He was eventually thrown out, thank cheebus.
The most uncomfortable I've ever felt in a movie was when I saw "28 days later", the awesome Danny Boyle "zombie" movie. There was an old lady in the audience, probably in her 70's at a guess. I thought she must have wandered into the wrong cinema, and everytime there was a particularly grueseome scene or bad language, I cringed at what she must be thinking! At the end of the movie, I asked her what she thought of the film, and she told me she found it quite exciting!

That last story reminds me of a story my best friend told me (he likes this story so he tells me it a lot!) He went to see the Horror movie CHILDS PLAY and two old ladies sat behind him. He thought "What are they doing at a movie like this? Did they wander into the wrong theater?" He overheard them talking and apparently they were fans of Catherine Hicks, who plays the mother in the movie. They sat talking about how much they loved Catherine Hicks til the movie started. Then when the movie ended they said "I cant believe Catherine Hicks would be in a dreadful movie like that!" and my friend burst out laughing.

Heres some bad luck. When me and my wife were just dating I couldnt wait to see "Gone in 60 seconds". So we went, about 10 minutes into the movie a group of late teens early 20 and probably drunk kept holdin their popcorn bags in front of the projector blockin the movie and laughin like idiots. My now wife saw my blood was boilin but I kept my composure. Well there was a group of guys a couple rows in front of us that had enough, they asked em once to knock it off, they didnt listen. Within 3 minutes after they asked the second time it was an all out brawl, people that werent even involved were all jumpin in to this little war. People and popcorn were flyin everywhere. It was like a jackie chan flik. End result, they canceled that showing after it got broken up and I missed my movie. I might have enjoyed this if I were with pals but tryin to escort your girlfriend thru a riot kinda puts a damper on things. We then went to the nearest video rental store.

Here in NC they are starting to have select movie showtimes for only 21 and up crowd. I realize that troublemakers can still be over 21 but it is nice to go in and see a movie without having to hear a bunch of giggling teenagers all during the movie.....

Excellent idea ! They never even enforce the rated R movies only for the over 18 here, in fact, the R movies have more young teenagers than adults. Wrecks it for the people who actually want to sit and enjoy the movie.

I've had it all: talkers, people kicking the seats, screaming babies, parents that bring their 5-year-old's to see Texas Chainsaw Massacre, people changing diapers in the theater, drunks yelling and vomiting, obnoxious teens barking obscenities and giggling like Beavis & Butthead every time there's some on-screen nudity, people having 20 minute cell phone conversations, texters, power outages, people throwing food, film breaks or meltdowns, projectionists running the wrong reels, volume dropouts, 90-degree theaters with no AC, movies with the volume jacked up so loud that my ears actually hurt, a couple having oral sex, a gang fight, a family who brought a picnic lunch in with them of some kind of horrendous ethnic food that smelled like rotten garbage, even two ladies smoking crack (no joke).
I've grown so tired of all the classless people in movie theaters that I've enacted a strict policy of only seeing matinees during the week to avoid crowds. And I never attend the budget theaters under any circumstances. They're just a hotbed for morons.
