I see that we've got a pretty active hockey thread, and since football season is just around the corner I thought I'd start a thread and see how many fans we've got on Rewind.

Go Broncos!

Roman Gabriel, John Hadl, Jim Plunkett & Sonny Jurgensen all decided to stay retired so the Vikings picked up another old relic in Brett Favre. Like my Facebook friend Wendy said the Vikings will receive $4,500 from the federal government in their new cash for clunkers quarterback program.

I also want to add that I feel that Sage Rosenfels would/will do just fine as the starting QB for the Vikings. He's always did an admirable job when he was forced into a starting role with the Texans.

As long as he doesn't go back to acting!

Brett just didn't know how to hang'em up I guess. Now watch the Vikes get to the Super Bowl! [Wink]

Posted by esmagnus (Member # 8099) on :

I'd love to see Brett do it. He can't just be doing it for the money anymore!

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

they said on the news the other day that brett wants to help the vikings win the super bowl this year? alot of people are upset about the way brett came back? fran tarkenton is one of them heard a interview with him on the radio and he was really p***** off ! i don't know what that was all about all i know is owens better get rid of his sprained toe real soon!! GO BILLS!!

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

well the bills looked terrible last night we lost to pittsburgh 17-0 sad!! they better get it together soon? and exactly how many weeks does a sprained toe take to heal? t.o. has been out forever already lol!!!

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Doesn't T.O. always have some kind of injury lol? Sorry, but I'm just not a fan. He's too arrogant for my taste.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

no need to be sorry pettyfan i am not a fan of t.o.'s either lol! to me this is just another waste of money for the bills!!

Pleased with my fantasy starters: P Manning, Forte, McFadden, Ward, Roddy White, Royal, Winslow, Gostkowski, Giants D

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

amazingly after i posted this i saw on the news last night that t.o. was finally practicing yesterday he wants to play in the thursday night game but the coach said no way? so i imagine he will play in the first regular game as thursday is the last pre-season game !

I just got back from a garage sale. I bought a Joey Harrington T-shirt for 40 cents.

Give me some picks for tomorrow night and the weekend. Will the Steelers cover the spread against Tenessee tomorrow night?

Posted by Faith No Motley (Member # 3598) on :

I'm really looking forward to Thursday's night's opening game which should be a good one. I'm pulling for Tennessee (sorry Steeler fans I love you too) cause I gotta go with Chris Johnson starting RB and East Carolina alum. We'll be in the stands though to welcome Michael Vick to Panther Country on Sunday. Go Panthers! I look for Brady to go off Monday night against Buffalo and Rivers to go off Monday night against Oakland. I also look for Ronnie's Cardinals to beat the 49ers. More predictions later.........

Make sure you Panthers maul some Vick azz.

I actually wished Panthers would have gotten him instead of Philly. Don't get me wrong I love animals as I have 2 dogs. And I in no way condone what he did nor agree with it. But at the same time, it was an absurd jail sentence when you consider there's folks murdering human beings pulling less (or no)time than he did. Just my 2 cents worth as I respect everyone else's opinion as well.......

Posted by Faith No Motley (Member # 3598) on :

Damn Rob Bironas why didn't you just hand the Steelers the win on a silver platter lol.......

ARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! [Mad] So, Cutler, ya gonna suck all season????? [Mad]

Posted by Chris the CandyFanMan (Member # 3197) on :

Keep your arms open for Jake Delhomme in case Cutler does prolongedly slip, since Jake's likely on his way out of Charlotte very soon given that he's clearly lost all grasp of quarterbacking fundamentals in a shockingly short amount of time (either that or Jim Johnson's still directing the Eagle defense from on high, take your pick).

oh so close we were winning for a while last night but lost the game 25-24 the last 50 seconds or so argggg now 12 years in a row new england beat us!! i am so glad my hockey starts this thursday and saturday lol

Posted by esmagnus (Member # 8099) on :

Stokley! Wow! Touchdown! Denver! Unbelievable! Oh my goodness! What a play! 87 yards! Whoa! http://bit.ly/1NvF9C

Posted by Faith No Motley (Member # 3598) on :

Delhomme signed a huge contract recently so unfortunately we are probably stuck with him for a bit. We did sign AJ Feeley although I was hoping they'd sign Jeff Garcia instead........

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

wow we beat tampa bay yesterday!! i believe the score was 33-20 pretty good game what i watched of it that is lol but weather was nice in orchard park too 75 and sunny for late sept. that's good for buffalo lol

Posted by Faith No Motley (Member # 3598) on :

Delhomme and the Panthers improved even though they lost to Atlanta. At least the line didn't collapse every time they heard hike this week. How bout the Giants beating the Cowgirls in their new stadium at the last minute and the Jets sending Brady and company home with their tails between their legs!!!?? We got Dallas in Dallas next Monday night gonna be a tough one....

Posted by Faith No Motley (Member # 3598) on :

Would be good for us too......

I didn't see the game but I saw the score...I think low scoring games are horrible to watch. Complete blow outs get boring too...can we say Giants/Raiders?

Posted by Faith No Motley (Member # 3598) on :

Panthers looked like azz yesterday but pulled it together and won over Washington. That Raiders game was a blowout wasn't it petty?

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

your right pettyfan low scoring games are boring i have a hard time watching the whole game and like i said sunday's game was just brutal i had to walk away from the t.v. bill was switching back and forth to a movie himself he couldn't take it either lol i still cand believe that old man wilson is not firing juron though? pretty lame he said he doesn't want to make any decisions in the middle of the season? huh? hello now is the time to do it your team is losing every game!!!

Posted by Riptide (Member # 457) on :

Hey BG the Bills finally won. It was a painful game to wathc thought, like the teams were giving the other teams chances to give it away.

Posted by Faith No Motley (Member # 3598) on :

Cardiac Cats pulled yet another victory off yesterday. In related news, Bears RB Matt Forte needs to put super glue on his gloves as a pre-game ritual and the Pats/Titans game should have had a mercy rule. Ronnie's Cards tore up the Seahawks and suprisingly enough Philly lost to the Raiders. In other not so suprising news, Packers shut out the Lions. Breeze and Favre both threw up awesome numbers as well. Denver/San Diego tonight which I'm looking forward to. Go Chargers!

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

ugh.. i thought the ravens had it! but once again, favre gets ANOTHER win.

did you see that blowout by new england? holy cow, that was crazy.
congratz buffalo girl on the bills' win! [Smile] doesn't that make 3 losses in a row for the jets?

Jeff Reed (Steelers kicker) was arrested again last night for another alcohol related incident. Charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkeness, plus some other stuff. This past spring he was arrested after an appearance at a bar in Ebensburg, PA. He got liquored up there, then on his way back to Pittsburgh, he stopped at a convenience store and got into a fight with the paper towel dispenser (not kidding). He ripped it off the wall when he found that it was out of paper towels, and they called the cops. He was arrested for vandalism and disorderly conduct. At least both times he has had a driver and wasn't driving. I think he's got some anger issues, dontcha think? [Wink]

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

I guess the Giants see what it's like to play a "real" game!

It's time for the Titans to clean house!! One of the CBS guys, don't remember if it was Marino or Esiason, said a couple weeks ago that the Raiders were the worst team in the NFL. Uh, no, I think that title should go to the Titans or the Bucs.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

thanks i was pretty surprised we won that game! i have to admit i didn't watch the whole game but i did watch the end of it and go figure edwards got another conccusion? i am sure he will be out for a while which may be a good thing actually lol

Guess the Broncos are for real, I had money on the Chargers last night and I got burned!

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

good for the broncos! sorry about the $$ riptide lol. i actually thought SD were gonna win.

Cardiac Cats lost another to Drew Points Machine Brees and the Saints, Ronnie's Cards went Bear hunting and come back with a big one (sorry bout that petty), and Tampa Bay upset the Packers. Tonight's Steelers/Broncos game should be a good one. Already got the frig stocked with ice cold ones as we're having a Monday Night Football party......

Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :

Motley, how was your Monday night football party? I only watched a little bit of the game, I was watching other stuff and flipping back and forth.

Bears and 49ers play this thursday.

Posted by Valley (Member # 1322) on :

Great to see the lowly Cincinnati Bengals pull out a win in Pittsburgh today. I respect the tradition of the Steelers and they usually dominate the Bengals ... So fun win for Cincy.

Game of the night had to be Pats at Colts. Once again...I respect the Pats, but hate Bill Belichick's arrogance. Awesome to finally see it backfire on him at the end of the game tonight.

Posted by Faith No Motley (Member # 3598) on :

Panthers win, Cards win, Denver is upset and Peyton and the Colts beat that prick Brady and the rest of the pricky Pats and Packers beat the prickish Cowboys. We're going to the Panthers/Dolphins game this Thursday. Great week so far!

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Not a Colts fan by any means but I am soooooooooo glad they beat the Pats!!!!!

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

yeah ralhp wilson finally fired **** jauron yesterday maybe now he will dig into his pockets and get us a good coach? a new quarterback would help too? anything at this point will be a improvement!! perry will be the coach until wilson hires another. i think wilson had enough after the loss to tennesee sunday and woke up finally!!

Posted by esmagnus (Member # 8099) on :

Shanahan in buffalo? what do you think?

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

any of the top coaches will do better then jauron that's for sure!!

Posted by Chris the CandyFanMan (Member # 3197) on :

Well, Mike Holmgren's available for one...

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i heard today on the news they are looking but not hiring a new coach until the season ends now!

Posted by Sir Sammy Hain Esq. (Member # 3150) on :

Brett, Adrian and the rest of the Vikings keep rolling with a thumping of the Seahawks. Looks like it will be a battle between them and the Saints for NFC supremacy.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

we lost as usual terrible!!! but at least t.o. got out of his slump finally!! now i am worried about the sabres they lost their last 3 games now!!

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i heard on the news today that wilson is trying to get in touch with cowher now for the coaching job? i think it will be between him or shanahan hubby hopes we get cowher sorry if i spelled it wrong lol but he thinks the old pittsburgh coach is better then shanahan? i have no clue!

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

now they are talking to shotenheimer about the coaching job for buffalo apparently he wants 10 million a year to coach the buffalo bills and wilson is ready to pay the money!! he is 66 years old i guess he would be better then marv levy he is just too old now!

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

the bills manager had a 6 hour long meeting with shanahan monday but noone is saying anything else about it at this point?

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

hopefully the bills will win on thursday night football tonight i believe it is in toronto too!

good luck!

Just thought of something odd. My favorite football team is the Vikings who so far have lost 4 games this season. 4 of my closest friends here at the rewind's favorite teams just happen to be the teams who have beaten the Vikings.

Loss #1 was against Pittsburgh favourite team of Pittsburghgirl
Loss #2 was against the Arizona Cardinals favourite team of Ronnie
Loss #3 was against the Carolina Panthers favourite team of Motley
Loss #4 was against the Chicago Bears favourite team of Petty

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Sammy, my mom was sooooo upset! She just couldn't understand how "her Brett" and the Vikings could've lost to the lowly Bears, lol. I read your FB post about Adrian Peterson--he does fumble a lot, doesn't he? I remember reading that somewhere else. Hopefully things'll look up for the Vikings.

Posted by Sir Sammy Hain Esq. (Member # 3150) on :

Sad thing is that I've been a Viking fan my whole life so these late season meltdowns don't even shock me anymore. As a matter of fact I've come to expect them and to even anticipate them. It just wouldn't be football without the Vikings disappointing.

Posted by esmagnus (Member # 8099) on :

Any superbowl predictions?

I'm gonna go with the Chargers and the Vikings!

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

So the Cowboys beat the Eagles last night (hee hee hee hee) and the Jets beat the Bungles (um, Bengals). Today is the Ravens against the Pats (please, oh please, win, Ravens) and the Packers and Cards. Doesn't matter to me who wins that one.

Posted by esmagnus (Member # 8099) on :

packs v cards was an awesome game!!!

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Yes, the Packers/Cards game was a good one. But even better was...you guessed it....THE PATS LOST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Sir Sammy Hain Esq. (Member # 3150) on :

We're down to the final eight teams. It's very possible that the final four teams could start with the letter C. Here's hoping the Vikings kick some serious Cowboys butt and makes sure it doesn't happen. The other C teams could win and it wouldn't break my heart at all.

Posted by Chris the CandyFanMan (Member # 3197) on :

Pretty happy with the final 4, although San Diego had been my AFC team of choice this year. No matter, they're still in pretty good shape for next year. Looks like New Orleans and Indianapolis aren't as overrated as people thought; they're now my preferred Super Bowl matchup. Meanwhile, Dallas now has to wonder if it was REALLY worth going all out for revenge last week; maybe if they'd shown some restraint, they've had gas in the tank to put up a reasonable effort. In contrast to they, McNabb at least got the ball into the end zone despite being overwhelmed, and he and the rest of Philadelphia took losing a similar game with class and dignity, without screaming in frustration at the opposing coaches. So Minnesota can smile as they have now avenged the Herschel Walker thievery and look to be in good shape moving on to the next to last step.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

we are routing for the colts here!!

Posted by Chris the CandyFanMan (Member # 3197) on :

I'd personally lean towards New Orleans; the franchise and the city deserve to reach the summit.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Go Saints!!!!!!! [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

SAINTS!! GO DREW!!

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i think it will be a high scoring game i pick the colts to win though 41-31!!!

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

wow was i wrong huh? lol oh well what i didn't understand is why the play clock never stopped during the whole game? it went so fast because of that too? as far as the who at the halftime show i thought they were terrible too old when you have to strain so much to sing it is time to retire lol i was never a big fan of them either actually? and the commercials were okay this year but my very fave was the dorito one with the yellow lab, then the snickers one with betty white and the only one with the clydesdale horses that one was cute too!

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

For some reason I missed the Clydesdale horses! I liked the Doritos commercials. The Budweiser commercial where the people made the bridge was so dumb I thought. I loved the game though!!!!!!!!! [Big Grin]
