Its confirmed, Michael Douglas will reprise his role as capitalism's golden boy; Gordon Gecko who takes on Shia LaBeouf as his protegie in the business world. Wall Street 2, entitled Money Never Sleeps will be directed by Oliver Stone.

WHY?

WHY NOW? Doesn't make sense in our current economic climate.

The original Wall Street is good flick
but i second jdocster that the timing for a sequel is horrible.

Maybe the story goes like this:

World economy sucks and world needs a hero.
Someone remembers Gordon Gekko who´s now living in a rest-home.
So, they dig him up and he trains Shia LaBeouf´s character to be the new master [Smile] [Smile]

Now, give me the Oscar [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

Shia Lebouf? Really? They couldn't find a good looking young man who can act?

Petty, the original Wall Street is definitely worth a view.

I liked the first one but question the addition of Shia "LaDouche" in the sequel. I think it's prime time for a sequel considering how bad the economy is. We need to hear something positive on the economy for a change........

The original is one of the best 80s movies. it summed up the entire "me" decade...

Don't know what this will be like without the Sheens. Wall Street is essential 80's viewing for the darkside of that decade.

Petty, Wall Street is a great movie, the only saving grace for this sequel is that Oliver Stone is back in the director's chair.

Possibly Oliver Stone's best script. I think a sequel in this economic climate may actually have something to say. Better a Stone-helmed sequel than a remake.

Without a Bud Fox I can only wonder how bad this movie will turn out.

I hope you won't mind that I'm reviving this thread, after a 14-month absence.

The movie is coming out later this year, and I'm actually looking forward to it. I'm not a fan of sequels in general, but I'm glad that it isn't being remade.

I have seen some scenes in previews and in trailers, and I have one problem: Michael Douglas' Gordon Gekko character, who is supposed to be released from prison after more than 20 years, looks too good for being incarcerated for so long, even if it is one of those "Club Fed" white-collar prisons. If it happened for real, Gekko would've been emaciated-looking!

I saw the previews for this movie before "Knight & Day".. it actually looks decent.

Is it true that if you want to make a sequel or reboot to an 80's movie it is important to see if Shia LaBeouf is available? He must have been too old for "The Karate Kid".
